Design And Practice Research On The School-based Elective Case Of High School Biology "Campus Plant"

Driven by the new curriculum reform,high school biology curriculum standards clearly required educators to make full use of the existing resources around them to enrich educational resources.This article investigates the internal environment of the development of biological elective cases in the first grade of Dongjiang Middle School,Heyuan,Guangdong by carefully studying the relevant literature of the school-based elective courses and referring to the experience of school-based elective courses in other schools.And through teacher interviews and student questionnaires to analyze the needs of students,developed a "Campus Plants" school-based elective case program suitable for student development.According to high school biology curriculum standards and school-based elective course development principles,a total of six high school biology "Campus Plant" school-based elective cases were designed,including production activity courses:(a)leaf vein bookmark making;(b)plant knocking and dyeing;(c)plant crystal glue(including making of dried flowers,glue),Investigation practice course;(d)understanding of campus plants(including theory,plant investigation and specimen making);(e)detection of fruit components of campus plants,and(f)measurement of population density of campus plants.The implementation effect of the school-based elective case of high school biology "Campus Plant" was analyzed,and the following research results were obtained.(1)The analysis of questionnaire evaluation showed that the implementation of school-based elective case of "Campus Plant" could significantly improve students' interest in biology study,ability of self-exploration,consciousness and skills of cooperation respectively.The overall average score rate of students before learning the school-based elective case of "Campus Plant" was 0.46,and the interest level was low.After taking the elective case,the overall average score increased to 0.61,their interest level changed to average level,and the proportion of students above the general level of interest in biology increased from 51.65% to 84.62%.(2)Through the investigation and analysis of the school-based elective cases of "Campus Plants",83.53% of the students liked these school-based elective cases,95.29% of the students satisfied with their study results,and 94.12% of students said that if there were similar elective courses,they would also participate it.(3)through the design and implementation of school-based elective cases of "campus plants",teachers' knowledge in the field of botany and their skills in experimental operation have been improved in certain level,the design and implementation of elective cases not only promoted the professionalization of teachers,but also enriched the theory of the development and implementation of school-based elective courses in senior biology.Therefore,it is feasible to set up the school-based elective cases of high school biology "Campus Plants" in the first grade of Dongjiang Middle School affiliated to Guangzhou University.At the same time,the difficulty of the contents of the elective cases is suitable for the development of students.The teaching and evaluation methods are various,and they are generally loved by students.It enables students to go out of the classroom and practice,allowing students to discover and solve problems in the process of practice,so that students can learn biology knowledge more actively,and improve students' interest in biology study,self-inquiry ability and cooperation awareness and skills.Through the design of six school-based elective cases of "Campus Plants",it is hoped that in the process of guiding students to understand plants,they will develop their interest in biology learning,Self-exploration ability,cooperation awareness and skills,and after the case study,they can inherit the campus plant culture.The school-based elective case of "Campus Plants" of high school biology with campus characteristics has lower requirements for laboratory equipment,and can be implemented in less developed urban high schools and rural high schools.While promoting students' understanding of campus plant resources,it is beneficial for students to strengthen their education of protecting the nature and loving the campus.
