Junior middle school geography is dominated by regional geography,and regional cognitive ability is an important geographical ability that junior middle school students should have in learning regional geography.At the same time,local geography resources are important teaching resources for students in the process of understanding the region,and they are easy to be understood and accepted by students.Therefore,this paper tries to apply local geography resources to the teaching practice of junior middle school geography,and explore its application strategies for cultivating students' regional cognitive ability,so as to provide certain reference for teachers to innovate teaching mode and improve junior middle school students' regional cognitive level.First of all,based on the definition of local geographical resources and regional cognitive ability,this paper expounds the feasibility of local geographical resources to cultivate students' regional cognitive ability from the perspectives of geography curriculum standards and students' learning situation.Secondly,the paper studied the status quo of regional cognitive ability cultivation and the application of local geographical resources in teaching by questionnaire.Finally,this paper proposes a regional cognitive ability cultivation strategy for junior high school students based on local geographical resources,with corresponding teaching cases.The research conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)According to the research on local geographical resources and regional cognition and their relationship in the examination questions of junior middle school geography curriculum standards,students' actual learning situation and geography association,it is found that it is feasible to use local geographical resources to cultivate the regional cognition ability of junior middle school students.(2)Students' questionnaires and teachers' questionnaires found that in the cultivation of students' regional cognitive ability,there were certain differences in the mastery of different elements of regional cognition,among which the mastery of regional location and characteristics,regional connections and differences was good,while the mastery of regional development and evaluation was poor.In the regional cognitive teaching,the teachers did not make enough use of local geographical resources,and did not implement them in the regional development and evaluation.(3)According to the current situation and existing problems of cultivating the regional cognitive ability of junior high school students with local geographical resources,four strategies for cultivating the regional cognitive ability of junior high school students were put forward.Carry out local practice activities to cultivate students' ability to summarize regional characteristics;Pay attention to the local geographical phenomenon,cultivate students' inter-regional correlation analysis ability;According to the above strategies and the local geographical resources of changsha--jinggang ancient town,changsha,ateaching case of settlement was designed,and the corresponding research activity program was attached.(4)By using the experimental analysis method and comparing the changes of students' performance before and after the experiment,it is found that the average score and passing rate of students in the experimental class are significantly higher than that of the control class,and it is feasible and effective to use local geography resources to cultivate students' regional cognitive ability in the geography teaching of junior middle school.
