In contemporary times, surveys show that children's “contact with new media” is getting younger. Many parents lack scientific understanding of how young children use new media, which leads to improper behavior and poor results of young children's use of new media. Many parents believe that the use of new media by young children is a worrying issue.Existing studies have shown that children's reasonable use of new media is conducive to children's development, and early literacy is an important predictor of children's future academic level. Therefore, this study attempts to explore the relationship between young children's use of new media and early childhood literacy,so as to enrich and develop new media and children's development related research. To give parents relevant suggestions on the doubts about the use of young children's new media, and to achieve a balance between young children's digital life and real life, and better use new media to promote the development of young children. In this study, children in large, middle and small classes in a public kindergarten in Chongqing were selected as subjects.By stratified sampling,180 children were randomly selected as the sample,140 valid samples were recovered, and the recovery rate was 78.8%.In order to understand the situation of young children using new media in the family, the researchers did the following: issued a questionnaire on “Investigation of New Media Use by Young Children(Parent Version)” to all samples to understand the overall situation of young children using new media in the family; In order to learn more about the specific situation of children's use of new media at home, the“Observation Form of Children's Use of New Media(Parent's Version)” was issued to all samples,so that parents can use this observation form to continuously record the situation of children's use of new media in the family for one week.In this study,in order to properly evaluate early childhood literacy skills, parents(parents have a better understanding of early childhood literacy attitudes)should fill out the “Preschool EarlyLiteracy Attitudes Assessment Form”,and early childhood teachers(teachers who evaluate early childhood literacy skills more professionally)should fill out “Early Reading and Writing Skills Evaluation Form”,through statistics of children's early reading and writing attitudes and skills, and then evaluate the children's early reading and writing ability. After the data collection was completed, the researchers used spss23.0 to analyze the children's use of new media in the family and the early childhood literacy scores of the children. The research results are as follows:(1)The total time of using new media in a week is positively correlated with children's early literacy ability, vocabulary and story understanding, but weakly correlated with children's print awareness and writing;(2)the interaction rate of using new media is positively correlated with children's early literacy ability, print awareness and vocabulary, but the interaction rate of using new media is weakly correlated with writing and story understanding;(3)There is a significant positive correlation between children's learning time using new media and their early literacy ability, print awareness, vocabulary and story comprehension, while the correlation between children's learning time using new media and writing is weak.Based on the research results, this study discusses three aspects: “the cause of a positive correlation between the time of new media use and early literacy ability, interaction is conducive to the development of early childhood literacy ability, and new media is beneficial to the creation of early literacy environment”.In order to better promote the development of early childhood literacy, this study puts forward the following suggestions to parents: parents should work with young children to formulate new media usage routines and strictly implement them;use new media as a carrier to promote positive interaction between young children and parents;Use new media to create a good early literacy environment for young children.Reflections on this study revealed the following deficiencies: the indicators to measure early literacy were not comprehensive, the scale failed to accurately assess early childhood literacy, the research sample was insufficient, and further inspiration and suggestions were provided for this study through reflection.
