ObjectiveNon-suicidal self-injury behaviors refers to the act of intentionally destroying one's own body directly without the purpose of suicide.Many studies have shown that the high incidence of non-suicidal self-harm behavior was college students.Students who have experienced non-suicidal self-injury have increased the risk of various psychological and behavioral disorders and even suicide.There were differences in the characteristics of non-suicidal self-injury behaviors among family,society and cultural life.Therefore,there may be heterogeneity in the group of college students with non-suicidal self-injury behaviors.In order to effectively help the non-suicidal self-injury population of college students in Guangdong Province and put forward effective intervention strategies,on the one hand,it is necessary to understand the basic characteristics and influencing factors of non-suicidal self-injury of college students in Guangdong Province,on the other hand,it is necessary to explore and analyze the heterogeneity of non-suicidal self-injury among students.MethodsThis research adopted multi-stage sampling to carry out a retrospective questionnaire survey on non-suicidal self-injury behavior of college students at different levels and specialties in Guangdong Province,and collected information on personal characteristics,family characteristics,activities between classes,depression,life events and non-suicidal self-injury information of college students.This paper described the reporting rate and basic characteristics of non-suicidal self-injury,and analyzes the influencing factors of non-suicidal self-injury behavior by using binary logistic model,further identified the repetitive non-suicidal self-injury population and sporadic non-suicidal self-injury population with latent class model,and described the depression and life events of the two populations.Results1.3797 college students in Guangdong Province were investigated in this study.The reporting rate of non-suicidal self-injury behavior was5.64%(95%CI:4.91%-6.37%).Many non-suicidal self-injury students have done non-suicidal self-injury behavior,they used two or more ways of non-suicidal self-injury behavior to hurt themselves.The common way of non-suicidal self-injury was "picking or grabbing oneself".The most frequently injured part was the limb,and the severity was "no obvious injury".Most common cause was academic problems.2.The left behind experience,birth place in city/town,disharmony with their mother,excessive consumption and poor sleep quality were the risk factors of college students' non-suicidal self-injury,while heterosexuality,family members did not experience domestic violence and core family type were the protective factors(P<0.05).Depression and life events were closely related to college students' non-suicidal self-injury(P<0.05).3.The results of latent class model analysis suggested that non-suicidal self-injury students can be divided into repetitive non-suicidal self-injury type and sporadic non-suicidal self-injury type.Compared with sporadic non-suicidal self-injury students,repetitive non-suicidal self-injury students had more non-suicidal self-injury behaviors,higher depression,more serious impact of family and property loss events on themselves.Conclusion1.The reporting rate of non-suicidal self-injury behavior of college students in Guangdong Province was at a low level in China.College students with non-suicidal self-injury had the characteristics of less serious injury,more non-suicidal self-injury behaviors and a history of non-suicidal self-injury.The most frequently injured part was the limb.Most common cause was academic problems.2.The family should strive to create a good atmosphere and environment to provide a good foundation for the healthy growth of children.The whole society should pay attention to the physical and mental health of teenagers,and widely publicize and popularize the correct way of coping with life events and depression among college students.3.The college students with non-suicidal self-injury can be divided into repetitive non-suicidal self-injury type and sporadic non-suicidal self-injury type.It was suggested that psychological intervention should be carried out for repetitive non-suicidal self-injury students.
