Objective: To explore the effects of role play on the cultivation of academic independence in class for the early school age children.Methods: This study was carried out in the A-B baseline experimental design of A single subject,with role play as the independent variable and the level of academic independence in class of the early school age children as the dependent variable,used methods including questionnaire method,natural observation method,insider report and interview method,etc.,collected materials to analyzes and studies the change of independent behavior of four individual children.The study was divided into three stages: baseline,intervention and follow-up.The effects of self-designed role-play intervention were comprehensively discussed through the changes in the frequency of academic independence behavior in class of four cases in these three stages,as well as the observation of researchers and reports from insiders.In the baseline period,the researcher observed the academic independent behavior of the children in the classroom without any intervention and collected the data of teachers' evaluation of the children.In the intervention period,a self-designed role-play scheme was introduced to intervene the individual children to observe and collect relevant data on the independent behavior of the individual children in class during the intervention.In the follow-up period,the researcher continued to observe and measure the students' academic independent behavior in class,and finally made a comprehensive assessment of the students' academic independence level in class during the follow-up period by combining the scale data,the researcher's observation and the insider's report.Results: After eight weeks intervention of role play,based on the grades of 6-12 Aged Children's Academic Independence in Class Subscale,the record of Pupil's Academic Independent Behavior Observational and Measured Scale,the researcher's observation results and the insider report,we found that there were three children increased their frequency of academic independent behavior in class significantly and the follow-up period was higher than that in the baseline period.There was one case who has no significant change in the frequency of academic independent behavior in the baseline,intervention and follow-up periods.Conclusion: Role play can improve the level of academic independent behavior in class of the early school age children.
