Mathematics Master Teachers' Studio Promoting Teachers' Professional Development: An Interview Study

The famous teacher's studio is a new community of teacher professional development in recent years,which plays the role of "incubator" in the process of teacher team construction.In order to explore the role of famous teachers' studio in promoting teachers' professional development,this study took a famous teacher's studio of middle school mathematics and its members in Changsha as the research object,carried out an interview study,hoping to solve the following two problems :1.How does the activity of middle school mathematics famous teacher's studio affect teachers' professional development? 2.What are the forms of famous teachers' studio activities that can promote professional development of teachers effectively?In this paper,the professional development activities of 1 chief teacher,3 famous teachers and 2 members in the studio were studied by means of behavioral event interview(BEI)and participant observation.And the interview data into the computer-aided qualitative data analysis software NVivo11 analysis.The study found that:(1)famous teachers' studio have the certain promotion effects on awakening of teachers' professional development consciousness,the renewal of educational concepts,the deepening of curriculum understanding,the expansion of knowledge scope,the deepening of teaching materials understanding,the strengthening of teaching reflection,the ability of teaching and research and the improvement of teaching skills;(2)the six basic forms of activities carried out by the studio include: expert lectures,joint teaching and research,reading and sharing,teaching contest,subject research and sending teachers to the countryside.Research suggestions:(1)UGS cooperation to promote the professionaldevelopment of teachers;(2)group linkage to integrate quality education resources;(3)reading and sharing to encourage teachers' lifelong learning;(4)promoting teaching by competition to accelerate the growth of young teachers;(5)subject research to help improve teaching and research ability;(6)interaction between urban and rural to promote the balanced development of education.
