A Narrative Study Of The Cultural Adaptation Process And Influencing Factors Of International Students In The United States

With the development of society and the economy,education is gradually becoming international,and the group of international students in China is becoming increasingly large.Although the choice of Chinese students in study abroad countries is becoming more diversified,the proportion of overseas students in the United States still ranks first among international students.There are huge cultural differences and language barriers between the United States and China.In this case,it often makes it difficult for Chinese students to quickly adapt to the new environment.Cultural adaptation has caused Chinese students studying in the United States to face three aspects of life,study,and work.A huge challenge.In recent years,with the tragic incidents of the group of international students going to the United States,the attention of Chinese society has gradually increased,and the physical and mental health of the students studying in the United States has become a focus of attention.Therefore,through narrative research,this article makes an in-depth study of the Cultural adaptation process and its influencing factors of Chinese students studying in the United States in terms of academic,life,and work based on the order of time development.This article selects a representative individual of students studying in the United States through purposeful sampling,conducts semi-structured interviews,listens to the story of the student studying in the United States and learns the process of self-development,and analyzes the influencing factors of cultural adaptation.Through research,it is found that the adaptation process of Chinese students studying in the United States follows the pressure-adaptation-growth model,and Cultural adaptation is a long-term and iterative process.The three stages of stress ? adaptation ? growth repeatedly appear in different aspects.At the same time,the process of Cultural adaptation of international students in the United States is also affected by the environment,the predisposition of strangers,communication,and Cultural adaptation.Therefore,based on the research findings and the personal experience of the overseas student in the United States,this article puts forward corresponding suggestions to help future international students in the United States better adapt to Cultural adaptation and reduce the occurrence of tragedies.The purpose of this article is to make more people pay attention to the process of Cultural adaptation of Chinese students studying in the United States and to provide inspiration and reference for the education of Chinese students studying in the United States.
