‘Mathematics curriculum standards for compulsory education(2011 edition)' has been issued for nearly a decade.According to the requirements for additional reading materials in the curriculum standards,different versions of mathematics textbooks have been put in place.But the use of these reading materials are not satisfactory.The study of the usage of reading materials is an indispensable step to carry out science education and improve its effect.From the perspective of students,this paper investigates junior high school students' learning of reading materials to understand the reasons for students' neglect of reading materials.The key issues to be addressed in this paper are as follows:(1)to understand the attitudes of junior high school students towards the reading materials in textbooks;(2)whether students are inclined towards different types of reading materials.This paper first classifies the reading materials in the shandong education edition into four categories according to table 3.1.They are knowledge-development class,mathematics-history class,information-technology class,mathematics and life class.Then,the students' attitudes towards the reading materials and their reading tendencies of different types of materials were investigated in the form of questionnaire,and the data collected from the questionnaire were summarized and analyzed with SPSS25.0software.According to data analysis,the results are as follows:(1)junior high school students generally have a positive attitude towards reading materials.(2)students have an obvious tendency to study reading materials,among which knowledge-development class reading materials are the most popular,while information technology is the least popular.Within the materials,Students did not do well in knowledge-development class which are not strongly related to the text,in mathematics-history class with strong popular science nature and lack of interest,in mathematics and life class with high degree of abstraction and in information-technology class is poor for the interesting reading materials of mathematics history with strong popular science natureand the reading materials of mathematics and life with high abstraction degree and the reading materials of information technology.Therefore,it is concluded that students' neglect of reading materials does not mean that students have a bad attitude towards them,but corresponds to teachers' selective treatment of reading materials.It can be proved that the reason why reading materials are ignored by students is largely the lack of necessary teaching guidance.Based on the understanding of the learning situation of reading materials,this paper finds out the reasons why reading materials are neglected by students,and puts forward teaching Suggestions for different types of reading materials.On the one hand,the gap between the intention of textbook writers and the ideas of front-line teachers can be narrowed to some extent.On the other hand,It can help front-line teachers form some new teaching ideas to improve the current situation of reading materials being ignored.In the end,reading materials become the auxiliary materials for students' comprehensive,sustainable and harmonious development.
