Research purposes:As a highly technical physical fitness racing sport,Dragon boat has set high standards for the exercise intensity,physical ability and strength.At present,the dragon boat training in higher educational institutions of China still confines itself to the area of paddling movement techniques and traditional physical training,which restricts the development of dragon boat.By comparing the physical ability characteristics of dragon boat athletes before and after the implementation of functional training,this paper seeks to explore the application of functional training to dragon boat athletes concerning the physical ability characteristics,with a view to finding a new and more applicable method for dragon boat training in higher educational institutions.Research methods:In this paper,24 male dragon boat athletes from the College of Physical Education,Anhui Normal University are chosen as the experimental subject for the empirical research,12 of whom are randomly are selected as the experimental group,while the other 12 are selected as the control group by adopting literature consultation,questionnaire,interview and mathematical statistics.By ensuring that all the athletes have shared similar conditions,they are conducted 12 weeks of systematic physical training.The experimental group adopts the functional training method and the control group adopts the traditional physical training method.The indicators this paper refers to include FMS test,physical shape(weight,body fat,the Pagus Index,Rohrer index,the Vilwick Index and the upper arm circumference),physical ability(the forward flexion value,pull-ups in the sitting position,reclining and pushing,squat and hard pulling)and dynamometer(200 meters,500 meters and 1000 meters).This paper attempts to collect data before and after the experiment for comparative analysis.Research results:1.Before the experiment,there is no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the FMS indicators,physical shape,sports performance and dynamometer indicators(p>0.05).The indicators of the two groups are similar and thuscomparable.2.After 12 weeks of functional training,the test results show that there is a remarkable difference between the experimental group and control group in the average score of the FMS indicators with respect to overhead squat,lunge,shoulder joint flexibility,active straight leg raise,and the total score of the test(p <0.05).3.After 12 weeks of functional training,the forward flexion value of the experimental group is remarkably higher than that of the control group(P<0.05),which is of high statistical significance.4.After the experiment,with respect to the dynamometer indicators of the experimental group and the control group,both groups have witnessed significant difference(P <0.01)compared with the results before experiments.After comparing the results after the experiment,it is found that there is a marked difference in the 1000-meter dynamometer indicator between the experimental group and the control group(P <0.05).Research conclusion:1.The 12-week functional training can remarkably improve the body movement of dragon boat athletes in higher educational institutions,increase their hip joint flexibility,trunk stability and body symmetry,as well as better their shape and reduce the potential risk of injury of the athletes.2.It shows that the 12-week functional training has been more efficient and labor-saving in the paddling movement of dragon boat athletes,and it can enhance their physical ability level.3.With respect to the dragon boat athletes in higher educational institutions,it can significantly improve the coordination of their limb movement,and make the movement structure be more in line with the dynamic characteristics.Moreover,it can also increase the flexibility of the hip joint,and expand the stroke distance,all of which shows that the work effect is clearly superior to the traditional physical training.
