With the rapid growth of China's economy and society and the expansion of urban demand for labor, more and more people choose to go out to work. The education of migrant workers' children deserves our continuous attention because it is an important part of national human capital.Family investment in children's education will directly determine their children's education status and restrict their children's access to various resources in the process of education, which in turn will have a crucial impact on their final educational level and educational attainment.Their children's future development and life trajectory have an impact. This study uses data from the 2016 “Chinese Family Tracking Survey”,starting with the two aspects of children's education acquisition and the education expenditure of their children in school,to study whether parents in rural households choose to go out for work and whether the difference in the outgoing structure among migrant workers' families Their children's investment in education creates differences, and the mediating effect of educational expectations is discussed. From the perspective of access to educational opportunities, fathers working outside the home can reduce their children's chances of dropping out of school, while rural families with both parents going out have a higher dropout rate of their children;only one person in the family does not show significant differences in working hours. And parents choose to go out will reduce the possibility of children participating in extracurricular tutoring. In terms of education expenditure, the level of out-of-school migrants' family expenditure on children's education is lower, while the impact of on-campus education on migrant workers' behavior is not obvious, and the out-of-school education expenditure has been significantly reduced.Regardless of whether the father is at home or not,as long as the mother goes out to work, the children's out-of-school education expenditure will be reduced, and only the negative impact of the mother going out to work is greater than if both parents go out to work.Family education expectations have a significant positive effect on children's education expenditures. The educational investment of migrant workers' families to their children is different from that of non-migrant families,in which educational expectation plays an intermediary role.
