Picture book reading is a reading activity loved by children and important for children's growth.The colorful pictures in picture books attract children's attention,and contain a lot of metaphorical information.Reading an image requires the ability to understand metaphors,which is an important ability of reading.Children's metaphorical comprehension determines the level and quality of their understanding in picture book reading.At present,there are few studies on the ability of metaphor understanding in children's picture book reading.In order to study the metaphorical comprehension characteristics of 4-6 year-old children's picture books in,the study selected 90 4-6 year-old children,30 in each age group.Using the picture book "Little Blue and Little Yellow" as the research material,through the research method of structured interview,the study explored the metaphorical understanding of the pictorial image,the event action and the role state in the reading of children's picture books of corresponding children,understanding and analysis.Children's overall level and clues of metaphorical understanding in picture book reading,and then put forward relevant educational advice.The results show that,in general,when reading picture books,4-6 year-old have better metaphorical understanding of the pictorial image than of the event action,and better metaphorical understanding of the event action than of the role state.Among them,in the metaphorical understanding ability of the pictorial image,there is nearly no difference between the children of 4-6 years old,and there are obvious individual differences in the younger children;the metaphorical understanding of the child's image of the transaction is slightly stronger than characters.In the metaphorical understanding ability of the event action,the 6-year-old children have a significant improvement compared with the 4-year-old children;the metaphorical understanding ability of children's independent and interactive actions increase with age,and the metaphorical understanding ability of interactive action is significantly stronger than that of independent action.In the metaphorical understanding of the role state,4-6 year-old children shows weaker and slowly developing;children's explicit and implicit state metaphors are also weaker.Children in 4-6 year-old mainly have two metaphorical understanding clues in the reading of picture books.The first clue comes from children's observation of image features,and the second clue comes from children's experience.At the same time,the study also found that in the reading of picture books,the age is not the decisive factor of the level of metaphor understanding of 4-6 year-old children.
