With the connection between China and other countries becomes more and more closely,the international status of Chinese is getting higher and higher,and more and more attention has been paid to in-class Chinese language teaching to speakers of other languages.However,according to the author's practical teaching experience in Thailand,comprehensive courses often have the problems of immobilization of teaching mode and difficulty in arousing students' interest,which are mainly caused by inappropriate teaching methods.As a new teaching method,communicative approach has made great achievements in teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages.It advocates student-centered and communicative competence training as the goal of language teaching,which coincides with the goal of Thai students in learning Chinese.This paper is based on the theory of communicative approach to the teaching design of the elementary Chinese comprehensive course.Two teaching cases are used to explain the application of communicative approach in the elementary Chinese comprehensive course of Satree Phang-nga School in Thailand.On this basis,the application effect of communicative approach is summarized.There are two main findings: first,the application of communicative approach can avoid some problems mentioned by predecessors,such as the lack of grammar teaching,while the author believes that the weakening of grammar rules does not mean the lack of grammar;second,the author's survey and practical experience proves that it is most effective to take a comprehensive method in teaching Chinese language,with communicative approach as its core and with other methods as supplements.At the same time,this paper also has its drawbacks,such as the improvement of students' reading and writing ability remains to be studied,and there is no specific analysis of students' errors in the classroom,etc.At the end of the paper,the author also puts forward some suggestions on the application of communicative approach in Satree Phang-nga School in Thailand,which can be used as reference by the follow-up volunteers.
