The universities of medieval England played an important role in the history of Western European universities, among which the most representative ones were the university of Oxford and the university of Cambridge. These two universities arose in England in the 12 th and 13 th centuries, and after several hundred years of ups and downs, they still play an important role in the development of higher education in the world today. The root cause is related to the continuous improvement of university management in England in the middle ages, which realized the transition from loose management to standardized management. Therefore, this paper takes the university of Oxford and the university of Cambridge as the main research object, and focuses on the four aspects of the management of English universities, including teacher management, student management, college management and curriculum management.Teachers and students were important members of the medieval England universities.Teachers' teaching and students' learning complement each other and promote the continuous development of Oxford and Cambridge university. Both Oxford and Cambridge universities are typical "teacher-type" universities,in which the teachers play a leading role. The tutorial system has become the main teaching method in universities and has played an important role in promoting the development of universities. The final formation of the salary system for teachers is the recognition of the teaching profession, and it is a necessary means for universities to guarantee talents. After entering the university as an independent individual, students are subject to various rules and regulations of the England universities in their study and daily life. The development of students in university has completed the transition from disorder to order. The management of students in the middle ages can be used for reference in modern universities. As the core of the medieval England universities, the university of Oxford and Cambridge always attached great importance to the management of the college, which played an important and positive role in the development of the college and the university as a whole. At the same time, the colleges of the universities of Oxford and Cambridge are independent and autonomous institutions, with the internal management playing a dominant role. The college cultivated many excellent social talents for the middle ages. The college began as a place for students to live and later became a teaching centre. The college library provides some collections for students and plays an important role in the development of the university. The college is the most distinctive institution of the England universities in the middle ages, which provides reference for the development of higher education in the world and promotes the progress of human civilization. The curriculum of English universities derived from the teaching contents of ancient Greece and Rome.Basic subjects are the cornerstone for students to enter universities. After the completion of the basic subjects, students will continue to study according to their own personal needs or social practice. The purpose of continuing to study is to obtain the master's or doctor's degree in advanced subjects--theology,law and medicine. The advanced department was the subject of cultivating professional talents in the universities of medieval England, which had cultivated many necessary talents for the church and the royal aristocracy.
