The current society generally encourages appreciation of education,"more encouragement,more praise" seems to have become the gold medal slogan modern for teachers and parents.However,from a pedagogical perspective,criticism as opposed to praise and punishment as opposed to reward are equally essential for everyone,especially the growing students.Through reading materials,the author of this paper finds that the theory of caring education by the famous American educator Nell Noddings is instructive to the problems which exist in educational punishment.Based on the study of educational punishment at home and abroad,this paper defines the relevant concepts of educational punishment,and distinguishes the relationship between punishment and corporal punishment,punishment education and appreciation education.In addition,this paper gives a profound and comprehensive theoretical overview of the theory of care and educational punishment,and clarifies the content and relationship between them.On this basis,taking the theory of caring moral education of Nell Noddings as the research perspective,this paper discusses the actual situation of the current punishment education in middle schools.Questionnaire and interview methods are adopted to carry out the survey.It is found that the definition of educational punishment is vague and teachers are free to use the power of punishment.Middle school students lack of attention from teachers and the punishment effect is not good;Parents lack the correct sense of reward and punishment,the family for the child is too spoiled;The society and the school lack the standard punishment system and other realistic problems.In addition,this paper analyzes the causes of the above problems from the aspects of teachers,schools,students and families in a comprehensive way,among which the causes of teachers are the most prominent.On this basis,combined with the relevant contents of the caring theory,this paper puts forward the corresponding countermeasures from five aspects,which are improve the professional quality of teachers,construct the caring teacher-student relationship,establish the caring educational environment in schools,and improve the concept of family education.The author of this paper hopes that through the joint efforts of teachers and students,schools and families,the problem of educational punishment in middle schools can get some attention and change accordingly.
