Preschool STEM education is an extension of STEM education to early childhood education,aiming to develop children's STEM literacy and prepare them for STEM learning in later education.As a result,preschool STEM education has been advocated in many countries in the world,and the United States has accumulated a lot of experience in preschool STEM education in particular.Based on the experience of preschool STEM education in the United States and China's national conditions,China's preschool STEM curriculum system is constructed and corresponding implementation is put forward in order to provide certain theoretical basis and practical ideas for the localization of preschool STEM education in China.With the support of national policy and the education research,the preschool STEM education in the United States has accumulated excellent experience: basing on the theoretical basis of children's cognitive development,paying attention to children's STEM literacy education goal,basing on the real situation of the integrated teaching contents,relying on the project-based teaching implementation,educational evaluation based on children's actual performance,and guarantee mechanism of joint efforts of family-school-community.This not only provides the enlightenment of experience but also provides the practical reflection thoughts for the preschool STEM education in China.Based on the experience of preschool STEM education in the United States,this paper attempts to construct the preschool STEM curriculum system in China by combining with the current national policy,kindergarten curriculum reform,research on preschool education,and professional development of preschool teachers.The preschool STEM curriculum system in China can be constructed as following: the theoretical basis obeys the developing rules of human's mind and body;the objective of the course is to focus on the overall development and individual development of children;the course content emphasizes the integration of domain content and key experience;the curriculum implementation takes environment of the kindergarten as a consideration and carries out educational activities suitable for children's development;curriculum evaluation attaches importance on the practical development of children.In order to implement the construction of curriculum system,China needs to increase policy orientation of preschool STEM education,make full use of preschool STEM learning resources of communities surrounding kindergartens,create appropriate STEM learning atmosphere of the kindergarten environment,enhance the STEM of core literacy of the kindergarten education workers,and establish more convenient family learning atmosphere of children's STEM.
