Since the reform and opening up,the number of international students coming to China has been on the rise, and the sources of nationality have also become more diverse.International students come to strange countries as "residents".A series of cross-cultural adaptation problems such as language barriers and differences in customs and habits prevent them from obtaining timely and effective instrumental and expressive support. Some international students are gradually marginalized due to their inability to cope with cross-cultural adaptation issues, and their sense of self-identity and efficacy have been reduced, which has seriously affected the quality and sense of acquisition of their study and life in China. With China's reform and opening up and the development of the One Belt and One Road,as well as the improvement of China's overall education level, there will be a large number of international students coming to China to study in the future. How to understand their needs in time and help them effectively deal with cross-cultural adaptation has become an urgent problem to be solved..At present, there are not many related studies on cross-cultural adaptation of foreign students. It is even rarer to conduct research and experience summary of cross-cultural adaptation of international students from the perspective of social work. This article relies on the service practice of international students in ordinary universities, analyzes and taps their related needs through the investigation of cross-cultural adaptation issues of foreign students in China, and explores the introduction of social work perspectives and group work methods through the intervention of group work practice and experience summary. In the practice of promoting international students' cross-cultural adaptation,it can better promote the development of China's cultural exchanges and education. On the basis of reviewing cross-cultural relevant literature research of foreign students in China, this paper uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, starting from the three dimensions of academic adaptation, social culture and life adaptation and psychological adaptation, and 115 International students in China conducted in-depth surveys and interviews to show their specific performance and related needs for cross-cultural adaptation difficulties. The study found that the current international students generally have difficulties in cross-cultural adaptation, such as weak social support network, low self-efficacy,unfamiliar with Chinese culture and weak cross-cultural communication skills. On the other hand, this article designed a cross-cultural support group for international students based on an advantageous perspective, social support theory, and further assessment of the needs of international students participating in the group, and actually launched practical exploration. The study found that after going through the group establishment stage, the trust and cooperation stage, the self-confidence remodeling stage, the social interaction stage, the cultural adaptation stage, and the adaptation promotion stage, the team members have significantly improved their cross-cultural adaptation.Research practice shows that the group service has a positive impact on the cross-cultural adaptation of foreign students in China. The development of the group work has expanded the social support network of the international students and has positively strengthened their life attitude. And become more familiar with Chinese customs and culture.Based on the research findings and conclusions, this article puts forward relevant suggestions around the satisfaction of cross-cultural needs of international students in China and the practical experience and skills of group work involved in this issue.
