Training students' scientific literacy and continuous innovation is a major theme of today's education which is also the basic concept of the new curriculum standard.Biology is a science based on experiments,whichhasunique advantages in cultivating students' scientific literacy.Biological experiment is not only the main teaching content of middle school biology,but also one of the important learning methods of students.Biological experiment teaching can promote the development of students' practical ability,inquiry ability,cooperative learning ability and innovation ability,and plays a key role in the formation of students' scientific literacy.Therefore,it is of great significance to understand the importance of biological experiment teaching and the current situation of biological experiment teaching for exploring the methodsto improve the quality of biological experiment teaching.In this study,questionnaire,interview,literature collection,statistical and comparative methods were mainly used to investigate the current situation of biological experiment teaching in 8 Mongolian teaching junior middle schools in Chifeng City and a Chinese teaching junior middle school(No.4 Middle School of Tianshan)in Arhorchin Banner,and the survey data were analyzed and studied comprehensively.A total of 1010 questionnaires were distributed to students,and 1001 questionnaires were recovered,with an effective recovery rate of 99.1%.Among them,800 questionnaires were distributed to junior middle school students who were taught in Mongolian,791 of which were recovered,with an effective recovery rate of 98.9%.A total of 35 teachers' questionnaires were sent outand 35 were recovered,with an effective recovery rate of 100%.The results are as follows:1.The experimental teaching level is improving(1)The 8 Mongolian teaching junior middle schools surveyed are equipped with biological laboratories,and the experimental equipment is basically complete.(2)Teachersand students have higher understanding of biological experiment teaching.(3)Teachers' cultural level is high.According to the survey data,84% of the teachers of Mongolian teaching junior middle school in Chifeng City have graduated from university and 11% have master's degree.(4)Teachers' ways and methods of evaluating students have become diversified,and they begin to pay attention to students' operational ability and class performance.(5)Group cooperative learning is the main learning method of students.In the experimental teaching,students study in groups.In the process of learning,they work together and exchange ideas,which is conducive to cultivating their comprehensive abilities of cooperative learning and inquiry.2.There are still problems in experimental teaching(1)The setup of multifunctional biological laboratory is not perfect,and the renewal speed of experimental equipment is slow.(2)Laboratory management is not in place.(3)The opening degree of the laboratory is not enough,and the utilization rate of many experimental equipment is low.(4)The basic and confirmatory experiments are emphasized,but the experiments with strong operability and openness are ignored.According to the survey data,only 42.2% of the junior middle school students taught in Mongolian had biological experiments.(5)The experimental teaching method of teachers is single.(6)Teachers do not have a higher awareness of professional development.(7)The experimental teaching ability of teachers needs to be improved.(8)The allocation rate of biology experimental teachers is not high,and the arrangement of experimental classes is not scientific.(9)The ability of teachers to use teaching resources needs to be improved.According to the survey data,only 33% of teachers in Mongolian teaching junior middle school in this survey can reasonably use all available curriculum resources,including textbooks,Internet and so on.3.Recommendations(1)It is necessary to strengthen the construction and management of laboratoriesand improve the teaching conditions of biological experiments.(2)Comprehensively improve teachers and students' understanding of biological experiment teaching.(3)Arrange the experiment class reasonably and combine the theory and practice organically.(4)Enrich biology teaching resources and make flexible use of available resources.(5)Schools should strengthen the construction of teaching staff and improve the comprehensive quality and ability of teachers.(6)Combine various teaching methods to improve teaching efficiency.(7)Further improve the way of evaluation and build a scientific evaluation system.(8)Actively organize biological extracurricular activities to promote the formation of students' biological literacy.
