Mental health education in institutions of higher learning has developed from a spontaneous and individual way of helping others to a well-organized and systematic educational work,has experienced more than 30 years and even evolved into an important part of the moral education and talent development system in colleges and universities.In December 2017,the Party Group of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China issued the “Implementation Program for Quality Improvement of Ideological and Political Work in Institutions”,which includes psychological education into the “top ten”educational systems and further clarifies the educational orientation and requirements of psychological health education.Based on Marxist theories,and combining research findings of philosophy,psychology,education and sociology and On the basis of literature research,comparative analysis and social investigation to psychological study how to improve the quality of education for institutions of higher learning in the new era.In Section one,relevant concepts,development background and significance of psychological education are analyzed,and the scientific connotation of psychological education is expounded;Following that,the basic characteristics of psychological education are examined from the perspective of the moral educational positioning,content tasks,objectives and directions,principles and requirements;Via analysis of the theoretical basis and practical basis for psychological education,the necessity of psychological education in institutions of higher learning is demonstrated.In Section two,eight institutions of higher learning located in the Xiasha Higher Educational Zone in Hangzhou are taken as an example according to literature review results.Next,in light of questionnaire results and interview results,the status and problems of psychological education in institutions of higher learning are analyzed from the perspective of achievements,existing problems and causes behind the problems of psychological education in institutions.In Section three,challenges and opportunities,missions and tasks,thinking and measures of psychological education in institutions of higher learning in the new era are studied,and countermeasures for qualityimprovement of psychological education for institutions of higher learning are put forward from the macroscopic and microscopic perspective,respectively.
