In recent years,the development of mixed-age education has been highly concerned by scholars at home and abroad.More and more kindergartens are beginning to realize the value of mixed-age education for children's growth.Due to the restriction of subjective and objective conditions,Rural Kindergartens also adopt the mode of mixed-age education.The implementation of mixed-age education has a direct impact on the quality of rural kindergartens.Therefore,it is of far-reaching significance to study the implementation of mixed-age education in rural kindergartens.This research adopts the methods of documentation,observation,interview and text analysis,and chooses H Garden of L Town,Tong'an District,Xiamen City,which is a typical example of mixed-age education,to conduct an investigation and study.The purpose is to find out the existing problems and reasons from the current situation of mixed-age education in H Garden,and put forward relevant suggestions for improvement.This study first introduces the basic situation of H Garden in L Town,Tong'an District,Xiamen City,and makes an investigation and Analysis on the background of mixed-age education,the concept of mixed-age education,the curriculum arrangement of mixed-age education,and the organization and implementation of mixed-age education.Among them,the background of mixed-age education is to collect and analyze data from three aspects: the decreasing number of children,the shortage of teachers and the shortage of educational resources;the idea of mixed-age education is to interview and analyze the principals and teachers;the curriculum arrangement of mixed-age education is to collect and analyze data from two aspects: curriculum objective formulation and curriculum content selection;and the group of mixed-age education.The organization and implementation are investigated and analyzed from four aspects: environment creation,activity organization,day-to-day living arrangement and child interaction.On the basis of a full investigation of the current situation of mixed-age education in H Garden,this study analyzed the problems and reasons in the process of carrying out mixed-age education.The problems of mixed-age education in the park include: lack of correct ideas and understanding of mixed-age education,the goal-setting of mixed-ageeducation presents "peer-to-peer",the lack of suitability of the content selection of mixed-age education,and the "randomization" of the organization and implementation of mixed-age education.The main reasons include: backward educational concept of rural educators,insufficient ability to implement mixed-age education,lack of experience for reference in the development of mixed-age classes,and difficulties in curriculum implementation due to the special characteristics of mixed-age education.Aiming at the problems and reasons of mixed-age education in this kindergarten,this study puts forward some suggestions for improvement of mixed-age education in rural kindergartens.Firstly,efforts should be made to improve teachers' professional quality.On the one hand,teachers should establish a scientific concept of mixed-age education;on the other hand,they should strive to improve their ability to implement mixed-age education;on the other hand,they should provide support for the professional growth of rural preschool teachers.One is to provide support for the professional development of rural preschool teachers,the other is to increase government investment to provide environmental protection for mixed-age education in kindergartens,and the third is to strengthen the auxiliary role of home-based cooperation.
