Xia Mianzun and Zhu Guangqian are extremely influential educators in modern China in the 20 th century with their own unique understandings on writing.They both stress that writing comes from life and reading,proposing that writing knowledge has its own specific rules.Though Zhu Guangqian has not written any works such as “on writing” and neither does he have rich teaching practice experience on middle school Chinese course,his comments on writing education can occasionally be found in his works and a relatively complete writing concept has actually taken shape.This thesis takes composition teaching as the center of analysis and explores the writing education concepts of these two educators from the perspectives of ultimate purpose,presenting forms,writing steps,and writing realm.Based on scientific understanding and rational analysis,this thesis considers the current status of composition teaching and discusses the strategy adoption in Xia Mianzun and Zhu Guangqian's writing concepts.Specifically,the discussion is conducted from the four perspectives of writing textbooks and curriculum,writing concepts and teaching design,writing guidance and thinking training,and writing correction and ability appraisal.Xia Mianzun and Zhu Guangqian's writing education concepts are the thinking quintessence summarized from writing practices and are enduring writing education theories in the long history with rich connotations of the time.Currently,there are few papers on the writing education concepts of Xia Mianzun and Zhu Guangqian.Therefore,based on existing studies on writing education concepts,this thesis is written in accordance with the new curriculum standard and provides referential strategies for solving widespread problems in the current teaching of composition.
