Information technology is having an increasingly profound influence on education.Now,the application of Interactive Whiteboard in middle school teaching is more and more professional,research on which is mostly made in the other parts of the country other than in the border areas.The reason is that border areas started relatively late in this field compared to other parts of the country,and researches which are made are not systematic and comprehensive.The research on middle school geography teaching is especially weak.On the one hand,to meet the requirements of the state and society on bilingual teaching,it is put forward in the "National Medium and Long-term Education Reform and Development" that,considering the thorough development of education,the development and utilization of information technology is encouraged in teaching.On the other hand,because of the time and special characteristic of geography teaching and because of the hierarchical and periodic characteristic of the junior middle school geography teaching,it is necessary to study the status quo of the application of Electronic Whiteboard in junior middle school geography teaching in order to assure the development of today's geography teaching in the border areas.So,how to effectively apply the Interactive Whiteboard Teaching in the middle school geography class? What are the possible problems in the process of application? What are the factors that influence the Interactive Whiteboard Teaching? These are the questions that are going to be discussed in this essay.In this essay,the author chose part of the students and all teachers of the eight middle schools in Urumqi as the research object and made a field survey.Based on the theory of pedagogy and education psychology,through literature study,questionnaire,interview,observation,statistics and case analysis etc.,the author found out the status quo and the following existing problems of the application of the Interactive Whiteboard in the middle school geography teaching:(1)Schools:insufficient teaching equipment and lack of relevant training for the teachers.There are schools who do not attach enough importance to Interactive Whiteboard.(2)Teachers: lack of skills of applying multi-media equipment in teaching.Application of Interactive Whiteboard is not prevailing among teachers,which does not meet the requirements of school.Also,the teachers are incapable of building Interactive Whiteboard geography teaching resources.(3)Students: lack of thorough knowledge about the Interactive Whiteboard teaching.The usage of Interactive Whiteboard by students is not frequent in class.Students do not see all theadvantages of Interactive Whiteboard and their interaction with it is poor.Based on the relevant theoretical knowledge and investigation results,aiming at the above problems,the author came up with the following teaching strategies.(1)Investment in education should be increased.Schools should improve teaching equipment and satisfy the need of Interactive Whiteboards.(2)Schools should initiatively organize Corresponding training to enhance teachers' skills to utilize the new technologies.Teachers should transform their teaching concepts,and learn to enrich the teaching materials and increase the geography course resources.(3)With the rapid development of multimedia technology,Interactive Whiteboard should be applied more in class to motivate students,to help them to understand and broaden their vision,and to stimulate students' studying interest and creative thinking through enhancing the interactivity of Interactive Whiteboard,and thus improve students' learning efficiency.
