Education is a cause of "cultivating people with morality".How to establish morality and cultivate people is related to the ways,methods and means of school moral education and its effectiveness.For a long time,people generally feel that the school moral education is not targeted and effective,and lacks enough attraction and appeal to students.How to get out of this dilemma,scholars,teachers have made a lot of exploration.The author thinks that the idea and principle of service learning,which originated from the United States,provides another way for us to solve the above problems.The core issue of this paper is how to learn from the American service learning concept and practice principles,optimize and improve some elements or links of our school moral education curriculum,in order to improve the rationality and effectiveness of the school moral education curriculum.Centering on this core issue,the paper firstly sorts out the concept,nature and characteristics,theoretical basis and historical development of service learning in the United States.On this basis,it presents the curriculum elements such as curriculum objectives,topic selection,organization and implementation,learning evaluation,etc.that service learning,as a curriculum form,contains,which lays a foundation for the following discussion on the internal relationship between service learning and school moral education curriculum.Chapter four and chapter five respectively discuss the necessity and possibility of service learning as moral education curriculum in school."Necessity" is mainly proved by reflecting on the dilemma of school moral education in our country,and connecting the getting rid of this dilemma with service learning."Possibility" is mainly confirmed by in-depth analysis of typical service learning cases at home and abroad.At last,the paper puts forward three "joint points" of integrating the concept of service learning into the school moral education curriculum system.Based on the literature survey and the analysis of typical cases,the paper holds that it is necessary and feasible to apply the concept and principle of service learning to the design and development of school moral education curriculum.Compared with traditional moral education courses,service learning,as a new form of moral education,can better develop students' moral understanding,enhance their moral experience,and enhance their moral action and influence.In other words,service learning,as an antidote,can effectively alleviate or overcome the common deficiencies and defects of traditional moral education courses(i.e.,disciplinary moral education courses).Accordingly,the paper puts forward three practical Suggestions.One is to transform the existing community service and social practice according to the concept of service learning;The second is to seek the opportunity of service learning in the existing teaching materials of morality and rule of law.The third is to develop an independent school-based moral education curriculum by referring to the concept of service learning and the moral education model of social action.
