A Comparative Study On The Contents Of "Function" In Junior Middle School Mathematics

Teaching material is the main carrier of spreading curriculum and carrying out teaching activities.It connects teachers' teaching with students' learning.It is an indispensable part of the education process.Under the guidance of mathematics curriculum standards for compulsory education(2011 edition),a number of different versions of mathematics textbooks have emerged across the country.In order to explore the commonness and differences between different versions of textbooks,this paper took the “function” part as an example to make a comparative analysis of the junior middle school mathematics textbooks published by People's Education Press and Beijing Normal University Press,and conducted a questionnaire survey on some teachers who used different versions of textbooks in Henan province.Methods of comparative study and questionnaire survey were used to compare the “function” part of the junior middle school mathematics textbook between“People's education version” and“Beijing normal university version” from two aspects including the overall structure of the textbook,the specific content of the textbook.This paper is divided into five parts: the first part is the introduction,including the research background,content,significance,methods and research ideas;The second part is the literature review,including the definition of the core concept,related literature review;The third part is the comparative study of “function”,which is the main body of this paper.The fourth part is a questionnaire survey on the use of the textbook with the content of “function”,which is conducted for some teachers to understand the actual use of the textbook.The fifth part is the conclusion and reflection.Through the comparative study,the following conclusions are drawn.In terms of overall structure: both “ People's education version” and “ Beijing normal university version” of mathematics textbooks follow the requirements of mathematics curriculum standards for compulsory education(2011 edition)in compiling textbooks,However,there are differences in the arrangement order of functions in the two versions of textbooks,and the textbook of “ Beijing normal university version” sets the chapter “relationship between variables” as a separate learning variable in the second volume of grade 7,while the textbook of “People's education version” does not.The two versions of the textbook are similar in style.The textbook of “Beijing normal university version” pays more attention to cooperation and communication,and the textbook of “People's education version” is rich in reading materials.In terms of the specific content: the introduction materials selected by the textbook of “People's education version” and the textbook of “Beijing normal university version” are different,but they all echo and are evenly distributed.In terms of columns,there are 34 less columns of “function” in the textbook of “People's education version” than in the textbook of “Beijing normal university version”.The textbook of “Beijing normal university version” cultivates students' independent learning ability through such columns as “doing”,“thinking” and “discussing”.The textbook of “People's education version” specially set up “information technology application”,“mathematical activities” and other columns to strengthen the penetration of information technology,training students hands-on ability.For example and problem sets,the background level and exploration level of the two versions of the textbook are basically the same,while the number of exercises of “function” in the textbook of “People's education version” is less than that in the textbook of “Beijing normal university version”,while the number of example sets is the opposite.In terms of reading materials,most of the materials of “mathematical application” are in the textbooks of “People's education version”,while most of the materials of “mathematical culture” are in the textbooks of “Beijing normal university version”.In the part of modern information technology,the textbook of “People's education version” involves the application of modern information technology in the arrangement of “function” content,while the textbook of “Beijing normal university version” does not make obvious use of modern information technology in the arrangement of “function” content.History of mathematics section,the function part of the textbook of “People's education version” does not have the infiltration of mathematical history.The textbook of “Beijing normal university version” sets the reading materials to penetrate the related mathematical history in the column of “reading”.In the part of mathematical thinking and method,the two versions of textbooks are arranged in accordance with the requirements of mathematics curriculum standards for compulsory education(2011 edition).
