A Study On The Causes Of "Leftover Women" In Individualized Society

After years of rapid development,China has entered an individualized society,and the transformation of society has also had an impact on the people who live in it,among which the growing group of "leftover women" has been highly concerned by the society.The word "leftover woman" has been hotly discussed by the public since its appearance.In recent years,the group of "leftover women" has been growing,which has aroused widespread concern in the society,and more and more scholars have begun to pay attention to this phenomenon.Single women are stigmatized under the construction of male power culture,facing the anxiety of identity and identification in society,and in the long run,it is not conducive to the overall development of society.Based on the background of individualized society,this paper takes the older single women in Shanghai as the research object,and uses the methods of interview and literature to collect the data,and studies the causes of the "leftover women".Through the analysis of the existing data,it is found that social transformation has greatly liberated women at the macro level,education has given women the opportunity to develop themselves,women's independence has been enhanced,and their social status and right to speak have been enhanced.However,the traditional concept of marriage and love and stereotype have not changed with it.The collision between individualized society and traditional concept makes "leftover women" face the squeeze of marriage.Women in individualized society began to "live for themselves",their subjective consciousness awakened,began to pay attention to their own identity,pay more attention to personal freedom;enhanced gender awareness,adhering to the concept of "better than excessive" spouse choice,questioned the male-dominated marriage model;the degree of social trust decreased,lack of confidence in marriage.There are both macro and micro factors in the emergence of "leftover women".In order to alleviate this problem,comprehensive measures should also be taken.The society should correctly look at the emergence of "leftover women",create a friendly atmosphere for women and cultivate the concept of rational marriage and love,and "leftover women" should also establish a rational attitude towards marriage,adjust the mentality of choosing a spouse,correctly understand the significance of marriage and family to society,to the individual,and re-establish confidence in marriage.Based on the individualized social theory,this paper hopes to eliminate anxiety and find a way out of the predicament for women from a new perspective.
