Under the background that China's economy has changed from high-speed growth stage to high-quality development stage,Guangdong's economic growth slows down and its industrial structure needs to be upgraded.In order to improve the quality of economic growth,Guangdong provincial government timely put forward the strategy of dual transfer of industry and labor force,and strengthened the implementation of innovation driven development strategy.Strengthening depends on innovation,innovation depends on talents,and higher education is an important way to cultivate high-quality talents.The level of development of higher education is crucial to the highquality development of the economy.In this paper,the relevant concepts of higher education level and economic growth quality are selected as the starting point.Firstly,the level of higher education in Guangdong Province is evaluated from three levels: higher education scale,higher education investment and higher education quality,and the quality of economic growth in Guangdong Province is evaluated from four levels: economic structure,economic benefit,economic potential and economic welfare.Secondly,this paper studies the influence of higher education level on the quality of economic growth in Guangdong Province through the fixed effect model,and studies the correlation between the level of higher education and the quality of economic growth in Guangdong Province by using the grey correlation analysis;and analyzes the coordination degree between the level of higher education and the quality of economic growth in Guangdong Province by establishing the coordination degree model.Finally,according to the results of the full text analysis,some suggestions are put forward.The research shows that the level of higher education and the quality of economic growth in Guangdong Province have been greatly improved in the past 19 years,but there is a big gap between the level of higher education and the quality of economic growth in all regions of the province,especially in the level of higher education,and this gap has a trend of expansion.According to the fixed effect model,the highereducation level in Guangdong Province has a significant positive impact on the quality of economic growth,and the quality of economic growth increases with each 1%increase of higher education level 0.023%.Using the grey correlation analysis,we know that the correlation between the level of higher education and the quality of economic growth in Guangdong Province is higher,and the correlation between the level of higher education and the quality of economic growth is higher than that between the quality of economic growth and the level of higher education.Through the analysis of the coordination degree model,it is found that the coordination degree between the level of higher education and the quality of economic growth in various regions of Guangdong Province is quite different,and the coordination degree in the Pearl River Delta region is significantly higher than that in other regions.Theoretically,this study can enrich the research perspective of the relationship between the level of higher education and the quality of economic growth.In a practical sense,the results of this study will provide some policy guidance for the coordinated development of higher education and economy in Guangdong Province at the macro level.
