The development of Xi'an academy in Ming Dynasty was in the leading position in Shaanxi Province.According to historical records,there were 34 academies in Xi'an Prefecture in Ming Dynasty,but their protection and inheritance were generally poor.From the field survey,only 8 academies were found in the inscriptions and ruins,but most of the academy buildings have disappeared.The relics of a few academies have been converted into modern schools.Most of the academy relics have been destroyed.After field investigation and combined with historical documents research,the academy of Xi'an Prefecture had obvious space-time distribution characteristics,which increased from Hongzhi period to Jiajing and Wanli period to a maximum.From the spatial distribution point of view,concentrated in 14 counties and Xi'an Prefecture,Hua,Yao,Qian 3 counties.This distribution characteristic is obviously related to the social background of the Ming Dynasty and the attitude of the local society to the academy.As far as the academy architecture is concerned,while inherits the architectural features of the academy since the Tang and song dynasties,there are new changes,such as the location of the academy close to the city center,close to places of historic interest,and pay attention to the construction of the internal environment of the academy.The development of Xi'an Academy in Ming Dynasty strengthened the trend of officialization because of the joining of official and social forces,which provided a more favorable social environment for the development of academy and strengthened its educational function.As a form of private education,academy is obviously different from official education,but it makes up the deficiency of government education and trains a large number of talents.At the same time,the academy education still attached importance to the imperial examination and carried forward the Confucian culture,which was an important supplement to the social education after the corruption of the official school in the Ming Dynasty.The academy culture formed in the long history of academy development still has the reference significance to the present society.
