In China,the income gap between urban and rural areas is an important problem which reflects that the unbalanced development appears between urban and rural areas.The balanced allocation of educational resources between urban and rural areas is the key factor to improve the income of rural residents and narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas.Taking Chengdu as an example,this paper examines the current situation of educational equalization and urban-rural income gap in Chengdu by means of quantitative and qualitative analysis,and empirically studies the relationship between educational equalization and urban-rural income gap in Chengdu.The paper is mainly composed of four parts.The first part mainly summarizes the research status,and explains the research methods and technical route of the paper.The second part mainly analyzes the current situation of education equalization,urban-rural income gap and urban-rural family education expenditure in Chengdu.The third part empirically analyzes the relationship between urban and rural income gap and education equalization level in Chengdu.The fourth part,based on the conclusion of the second part and the third part,puts forward the suggestion of Chengdu city to narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas by means of education equalization.The main conclusions are as follows:First,Chengdu has achieved good results in the equalization of compulsory education and has become an advanced area for the balanced development of compulsory education nationwide.However,there are still some problems such as education resource allocation,government efforts and education quality which do not fully meet the standards set by the Ministry of Education.Second,although the urban and rural income level of Chengdu has been increasing year by year,the absolute gap between urban and rural per capita income is gradually increasing.At the same time,the gap of education expenditure per capita between urban and rural is large,which is not conducive to narrowing the income gap between urban residents and rural residents.Third,the empirical study concluded that the impact of urban and rural government education investment gap on urban and rural income gap in Chengdu was statistically significant,indicating that there was a long-term urban bias in education investment inChengdu,and the distribution of education investment between urban and rural is unbalanced.At the same time,the education expenditure gap between urban and rural families in Chengdu is also an important reason to expand the income gap between urban and rural areas.On above basis,this paper puts forward some concrete countermeasures and suggestions from the aspects of narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas by means of education equalization,such as further increasing the government's investment in education,optimizing the balanced allocation of teachers in urban and rural areas,encouraging the expansion of social investment in rural areas and strengthening the supervision system of educational investment.
