Analysis On The Competitiveness Of Sino-Thailand Agricultural Products Trade

China and Thailand have been in trade relationship throughout their history.This long-term partnership has helped laid a solid foundation for both countries' businesses nowadays.This study has found that both China and Thailand are agricultural-based economic countries,and there are similarities in terms of natural resources,cultural,and history.However,in today ever-growing integrated economy,agricultural commodities trade from the two countries is still facing various problems which needed to be focused on.Therefore,this study will aim to analyze the competitive relationship of China and Thailand agricultural commodities trade.During the data analysis process,the statistics from nearly 20 years of China and Thailand import and export agricultural commodities trade were categorized by agricultural products divisions and markets.Then,it will be compared,analyzed,and evaluated which resulted in the competitive level of each products.The theory of international trade,the theory of absolute superiority trade and the theory of relative advantage trade also are used in the evaluation and the analysis process as well.The results show that during the 15 years of China and Thailand import and export agricultural commodities trade,competitiveness of the HS 03(fish,chitosan),HS 07(edible vegetables,roots and tubers),HS 10(grain),HS 16(meat,fish,shellfish,soft bodied animals and other aquatic invertebrates),HS 20(vegetables,fruits),and HS 23(residues and waste of food industry;animal feed)agricultural products are obvious.HS 03(fish,chitosan),HS 10(grain),HS 16(meat,fish,shellfish,soft bodied animals and other aquatic invertebrates)are highly competitive whereas HS 07(edible vegetables,roots and tubers),HS 20(vegetables,fruits),HS 23(residues and waste of food industry;animal feed)have rather high competitiveness.Other categories of agricultural products are not obvious.Finally,resulted from this study,the article on the development trend of agricultural commodities trade between two countries was analyzed.Suggestions and prospects related to future studies are also given.
