Urbanization and landscape pattern are important to affect the economic and social development of a region, landscape pattern is the basis of urban economic development pattern,And all kinds of human activities pose a threat to the urban landscape.Under the modernization, the contradiction between human beings and land is becoming more and more apparent, with the size of the expansion of urban population, economic growth, the development of Urbanization, the increasing demand for various of land and space resources, leaded to unscientific use of resources, the changes of urban landscape pattern leaded to a large number of urban problems, such as traffic congestion, reduction of cultivated land, environmental deterioration, low urban greening rate.China is at a critical period of accelerating urbanization, urban landscape pattern affects the living environment of urban residents, economic benefits of urbans and the potential of urban development.,So there is an increasing concern about the correlations between urbanization and landscape dynamics in rapid developing regions,it's of huge realistic significance.Based on the background above, this study presented the evaluation index system of urbanization and landscape patterns in the region of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei.On the basis of connotation of urbanization and the landscape pattern,by means of socioeconomic data and remote sensing data, use the method of combining theory with reality, quantitative and qualitative analysis,We calculated the comprehensive level of urbanization and landscape patterns of 165 counties(cities and districts)from 2005 to 2014 in this region. The coordination degree of urbanization and landscape pattern was quantified by using the coupling coordination degree model(CCDM).The CCDM was compared with the urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta. It's turned out tha:(1)The overall quality of urbanization had spatial heterogeneity. The higher value of urbanization was concentrated in the areas of Beijing and Tianjin as well as other large cities. In contrast, the low values were mainly located sparsely in this region and accounts for more than 80% of the total area. The urbanization mode in this region was totally different from other regions, such as the balanced development in the Yangtze River Delta;(2)The pattern of the landscape changed acutely. In the class level, the patches had more density, large fragmentation, and irregular shape in most landscape types. In the landscape level, the comprehensive level of landscape patterns showed a trend of increasing at first and then decreasing. These high values were located mainly along the eastern and western of Hebei province as well as the and Binhai New Area of Tianjin. They formed a strip-shaped distribution pattern along the western land of Hebei and eastern coast of Hebei. The distribution of median values was scattered while the low values were mainly distributed in the southeast and northeast of Hebei province;(3)The urbanization and the landscape changes were unbalanced in space. The balance areas of urbanization and landscape patterns were concentrated in Beijing-Tianjin area and along the Bohai Bay coast. The imbalance areas were concentrated in the fringe areas of Beijing and in all the prefecture level cities of Hebei province, except for the municipal districts. We also found that the economy level is the main driving force for the spatial imbalance of urbanization and landscape dynamics. The results can provide implications for urbanization and landscape planning of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regions as well as other similar regions under the rapid urbanization.
