Ecotourism Suitability Assessment Of Hexi Corridor Based On GIS

As a tourism mode of environmental protection and sustainable development,ecotourism could be taking ecological education as the core.With the rapid development of tourism,ecotourism has been paid more and more attention by tourists and operators so far.The Hexi Corridor with vast territory has abundant and unique tourism resources.However,its eco-environment is quite fragile,and any unreasonable tourism activities would result in serious damage for the Hexi Corridor.Therefore,it is of great significance to protect the ecological environment of the Hexi Corridor and realize the sustainable development of ecotourism by using a reasonable method,which could evaluate the ecological tourism suitability and put forward the development strategy.Based on the concept of ecotourism,the suitability and restrictive factors affecting the development of ecotourism are summarized and analyzed from the four aspects by a thorough understanding of the ecological environment,the present situation of tourism development and the social and economic conditions of the Hexi Corridor.They are respectively ecological tourism resources,environmental carrying capacity,local tourism basic conditions and social and economic conditions of the Hexi corridor.On this basis,an index system could be constructed to evaluate the suitability of eco-tourism of Hexi Corridor,which contains 3 elements and 19 indicators.After collecting the relevant data of each evaluation index,the data could be analysed by ArcGIS software and the grid data is superimposed on this superposition standard.After consulting the relevant experts,AHP could be used to determine the weight of each index.Finally,the weighted superposition method could be applied to obtain the comprehensive map of the eco-tourism suitability grade.Through the analysis of the comprehensive map,it is concluded that the most suitable areas for developing ecotourism in Hexi Corridor are in Liangzhou and Gulang counties,and the most unsuitable areas for ecotourism activities are in aeck and Subei Counties.Accordingly,eco-tourism activities could be carried out according to local conditions,and strategies for developing and protecting ecotourism should be put forward.
