As the expansion of tourism market in XinJiang is increasing,visitors from foreign countries have changed into an important factor in promoting development of regional tourism industry.According to the globalization,inbound tourism industry will play a more important role in the future.Statistics indicate that the number of Japanese tourists is the highest in XinJiang's inbound tourism market.Making research on tourism motivation and behavior characteristic of Japanese tourist in XinJiang will realize the significance in offering reference for regional tourism development practice and filling in data gaps.This article takes the Japanese tourist in XinJiang as the study object,depending on hedonic tourism motivation model,designs tourism motivation scale,compiles questionnaire survey.After testing the reliability and validity of sample data,makes factor analysis with SPSS software,concludes five common factors of tourism motivation such as "cultural experience","psychological need","consumer","health nurse","business".And then based on these motivation,divides Japanese tourist in XinJiang into three types such like "recuperate","sightseeing","explore" by using cluster analysis.According to cross tab analysis method,points out the common and different behavior characteristic in seven aspects in decision making and consumer with different types of Japanese tourist in XinJiang.Finally gives five suggestions in order to develop XinJiang's inbound Japanese tourism market.
