Performance improvement is the goal that business operators would pursue and the guarantee of enterprise development and expansion.How to choose and determine the path of performance improvement in a certain period becomes one of the major issues that growth enterprises need to address.Although domestic and foreign scholars have carried out a lot of research on enterprise management,and gradually formed a systematic performance management theory system,there are few studies on how to implement a targeted performance improvement path in the process of business operation and management.Moreover,with the growth of corporations,the enterprise system contains the characteristics of delay,dynamic,uncertainty and continuity which could be intertwined,andthereby increasing the difficulties of enterprise identification as well as determining performance improvement path.This paper aims to analyze the competitive advantages and disadvantages of W Company's performance through the comparative analysis on performance status with the same-scale enterprises in the same industry.Specifically,W Company's external opportunities and elements of threat will be analyzed through External Factor Evaluation(EFE)Matrix,and its advantage and disadvantage factors will be evaluated through the Internal Factor Evaluation(IFE)Matrix.Besides,the fundamental strategy of W Company's performance improvement will be provided in addition to SWOT analysis on key factors affecting performance improvement and operational capability.Based on the research of the main contents and their relations with the enterprise operation,the operation and management of the growth enterprises prevalently encompasses the problem in the form of taking tangible and deterministic event management as priority while lacking the management of the invisible and uncertain events,as well as lack of comprehension and means in responding to the nature of delay and dynamic in corporate operational system.In this paper,contingency theory is used to construct the model of performance improvement path for growth enterprises.The renewed paths for W Company's performance improvement factor,namely,the revision and perfection of product strategy,the change of organizational structure,the update of human resources and management improvement,the succinctness and update of corporate culture,and the update of financial essentials focused on capital management,are proposed.In addition,the paths for enhancing necessary competency in performance improvement are addressed as well,including the improvement of the management capacity on lean production,the improvement of technical capability on production equipment and information technology,the improvement of the ability on dealing with uncertain events,the improvement on recognition of the core competency elements as well as the improvement of the cultivation ability.The goal of this paper is to provide a guidance for W Company to solve the issue of slow performance growth through the exploitation of its growth path,thereby facilitating its performance enhancement.Meanwhile,it is expected to provide reference on performance management for small and medium-sized private enterprises in our country,and thus help them to increase market competition ability under the new situation in China.
