With the advent of the era of industrial 4.0 and the increasingly fierce competition of enterprise, the Cenozoic knowledge employees have been attracting more and more attention from enterprises. How to enhance employees' innovation performance through their human, social and psychological capital could be a new path for organizations to improve their sustainable competitive advantages. However, there still exist research gaps: firstly, there are lots of research emphasizing the value of knowledge workers in corporate innovation, while the group of Cenozoic knowledge employees, characterized by creative and flexible,is scarcely discusse d as a distinctive force for corporate innovation.Secondly, for studies on relationships between employee capital and innovation performance, most research focused on the influence of one certain capital, while the synergistic effects of the three capital s have been ignored.Lastly, the mechanism of how employee's capital affect innovation performance remain to be explored, especially mediators and moderators with the Chinese characteristics. With Cenozoic knowledge employees as the research object, this p aper aimed at discuss the relationship between Cenozoic knowledge employees' human, social, psychological capital and innovation performance, and to explore the influence mechanisms with employees' job satisfaction as the mediator and job characteristics as the moderator,so we have built the implementation model for innovation performance.Using regression analysis based on survey data collected from 293 Cenozoic knowledge employees,we draw the following conclusions: Firstly, human, social and psychological capital positively affects the Cenozoic knowledge employees' innovation performance.Secondly, employees' job satisfaction partial mediate the relationship between human, social, psychological capital and innovation performance.Thirdly, the Cenozoic knowledge employees' job characteristics can moderate the relationship between job satisfaction and innovation performance;Lastly,Cenozoic knowledge employees' innovation performance and job satisfaction can be influenced by the synergistic effect of three capitals, with the psychological capital as the biggest factor. This paper emphasized the important role of employees' non-physical capitals instead of that of enterprise system, knowledge sharing,as most researchers did,in the innovation performance.Furthermore, the job performance as a mediator in the relationship between employee's non-physical capitals and the innovation performance is first studied, which we may call a kind of theoretical contribution.First, the research explored the influence of Cenozoic knowledge employees' three capitals on their innovation performance, and tested the partial mediating effect on the three capitals to innovation performance.Second, through the regression analysis, the paper discussed the synergy effects of Cenozoic knowledge employees' three capital on their innovation performance and job satisfaction, results showed that the synergy effects of the three capitals can greatly influence the change of the innovation performance and job satisfaction, and the three capitals are of good collaborative and alternative with each other, yet the role of psychological capital is the largest.Third, this paper also confirmed that the work characteristics of Cenozoic knowledge employees play a significant positive moderating ro le on the relationship between job satisfaction and innovation performance, for those employees with higher job characteristics, the effects of their job satisfaction on innovation performance is greater.
