While relations with the West have entered a severe and long-term crisis,Russia announced new strategy Turn to The East,the aim of which is to promote economic development and growth of Siberia and Far East that is impossible without the development of a common transport infrastructure.The current movement of China to the West,and Russia-to the East,provides opportunities for creating a new zone of cooperation and involving the Russian regions into Chinese transport projects of One Belt One Road Initiative.Thus,this research aimed to study the impact of 'One Belt,One Road' and its effects on GDP growth in Russian regions affected by the initiative.The calculated forecasts in this study indicate on decreased GDP growth in coming years.In order to prove that 'One Belt,One Road' and its infrastructure projects will have an impact on GDP,regressions analyses,including several variables that have an effect on GDP,were conducted.According to the results of this study,extended railways and increased exports,as well as other factors connected to infrastructure projects prove that OBOR will have mostly positive effects on GDP growth in the selected regions. |
