The Impacts Of Labor Migration On Farm Households' Machinery Investment

As the process of urbanization development,more and more rural labors tend to transfer from agricultural industries to non-agricultural industries,and from rural areas to towns and cities in China.By the end of first half year in 2017,there were 17,969 migrants in China,and most of them are from less developed areas in central regions and west regions,such as Sichuan,Henan,Anhui and Jiangxi Province.Labor migration,whose essence is the relocation of production factors,such as labor,capital and so on,which is beneficial to alleviate the contradiction of surplus rural labors and increase farmers' income,but it has brought a lot of challenges on rural development and agricultural development.Such as the decline of agricultural productive investment.Thus,try to improve the agricultural machinery investment reasonably can benefit the agricultural productive efficiency and avoid the loss by labor migration has become very important in China.This paper analyses the influence of migration on machinery investment based on the432 farmers' survey data of Jiang Xi province that includes nine cities and sixteen counties,Which concerns lots of areas and people.It is very representative.At present,there are not so many thesis studying on the effecting factors on agricultural machinery investment.So it is necessary to study on it.We work on this thesis from household's side.Labor migration must have an influence on farm machinery investment.In this paper,household means no less than one family member choose to leave villages and make a living in cities.We need to think whether the rest of this household wold decide to invest on farm machinery.According to that Jiangxi is a big agricultural province,we chose the place.Empirical results suggest that labors can gain more income because of migration.So migrant income is applied to the agricultural machinery to replace the labor loss in the agricultural production.Although it helps to some degree,the machinery investment is also effected by scale of land.Thus,the research puts some policy suggestion,like promoting agricultural machinery subsides,supporting farmland formula management and encouraging household's farm investments.
