Rural labors' migration to non-farm industry and to urban areas is a necessary trend of economic and social development, and is also necessary to realize our country's modernization. Since reform and opening up to the outside world, agricultural productivity has raised rapidly. With the development of rural industry, non-government department and the employment policy, the scale of rural labors' migration has continuously expanded. However, because of the long-term isolation between urban and rural areas, it is still very difficult for peasants to realize migration. In the transformation course of peasants from employment structure to settling down in cities, there are two kinds of migration models——personal migration and family migration. Nowadays in China, most of the migrated peasants are in the personal-to family migration transition stage, therefore the study of the two migrated models has important practical significance. The development of urbanization in Jiangsu Province is quite speedy. As the capital of Jiangsu Province, Nanjing attracts many rural labors to migration. The urbanization level of Nanjing has arrived at 76.3% in the year of 2005, which ranks No.1 in Jiangsu Province, and exceeds the average level of our country. In addition to that, the reform of Household Registration System and employment policy is quite early in Jiangsu Province, which releases the systematic restriction of rural labors' migration. On the foundation of investigation data of migrated rural labor in Nanjing, utilizing the theory and method of Labor Economics, Development Economics and Econometrics, this article studies the differences between personal migration and family migration in the terms of personal characteristics, migration income, migration costs, self-estimation and so on, then analyze the influenced factors for peasants to choose the different migrated models. According to the comparison of the two models, we find out that comparing to personal migration, people who choose family migration is quite older, and most of them have married; they have higher income in urban areas, but also have higher living costs; they are more satisfied of their living state and social status; and at last, they are more likely living in the city in the future. In order to analyze the influenced factors for peasants to choose different migrated models, this article uses Binary Logistic Model to analyze separately in three kinds of samples: total sample, male sample and female sample. The final result shows that, age has a positive impact for total sample and male sample to choose family migration; family population and family pattern do not have notable impact to choose migration models; number of school-age children is a very important family characteristic to influence peasants decision, especially for female sample, peasants who have school-age children are more attempted to choose family migration; migrated time and migration income also have positive impact for peasants to choose family migration. Finally, according to the above analysis result and local situation, this article proposed some strategic suggestions about how to enhance the family migration and to speed up the urbanization.
