A Study On The Writing Of Xue Fucheng's Diplomatic Official Documents

When Qing Dynasty entered the late feudal period,it has experienced a three-thousand year unprecedented change.One of the changes is the offensive and defensive potential of Chinese and foreign countries relations.As ambassadors contacted Qing Dynasty with foreign countries,they play an important role in the history of China's diplomatic development.As the ambassador to Britain,French,Italy and Belgium,Xue fucheng was praised as "talented envoy" depending on the outstanding diplomatic talents and achievements.During the mission,Xue fucheng has written a series of official documents,such as Chushi Zoushu,Chushi Gongdu,and so on,which show Xue Fucheng's loyalty to the motherland and efforts on the fighting of sovereignty.Instead of focusing on the hot researches like the study on Xue Fucheng's diplomatic ideology,article pays much attention to the study on Xue Fucheng's diplomatic official documents,and analyzes the reason that diplomatic official documents making great influences,in order to recognize the value of Xue Fucheng's diplomatic official documents.What's more,it's helpful for us to probe Xue Fucheng's life attitudes and ideological changes under the impact of the West.This article has four chapters.In the first chapter,with the principle of knowing a man's background then discussing his works,we explore Xue Fucheng's motivations of writing the diplomatic official documents.In the second chapter,we aim at recognizing the types of literature,and making socio-cultural interpretation of stylistic evolution.At the beginning,we analyse 9kinds of official document styles in Xue Fucheng's diplomatic works,and have a new conclusion that diplomatic diary is governmental consultative report in fact.Then,we point out the specialization of the style's function of diplomatic documents through a style named Zhaohui.At last,we believe that Xue Fucheng's gathers the transition and contradictory together due to the influences of the special era.The third chapter mainly discusses Xue Fucheng's writing skills,in other words,it analyzes the reasons why Xue Fucheng's official documents can make great achievements both internal and external from the technical level.As a result of Purposeful writing,Xue Fucheng's pays much attention to the production of documents,structure and layout,argumentation reasoning,in order to maximizing the effectiveness of official documents.The fourth chapter is a multidimensional investigation of diplomatic official documents' literature,history,and ideological value.The most important difference between ancient official documents and contemporary official documents is that the ancient ones are in harmony with literature.For example,the new terms appearing in Xue Fucheng's official documents not only break through the traditional Tongcheng grammar,but also lay a foundation for the emergence of Baozhang style and Xinminstyle.From the view of archival science,Xue Fucheng's official documents have a high value of "records".Xue Fucheng is enthusiastic about the Westernization,and serving as an envoy abroad gives Xue Fucheng's an opportunity to turn his thinking toward Reformation.His diplomatic official documents also become the main position for his interpretation of new principles and new ideas that are different from the traditional scholar-bureaucrats.
