Research On Logical Definition,Functional Types And Writing Skills Of Official Letter

Many scholars have carried out studies on official letter.However,most of them focus on whether the biases or the writing styles of the official letter.The research perspective is relatively simple and incomprehensive.These kinds of studies are lack of logical relevance and a systematic classification.Meanwhile,they also lack the causality of errors and the pertinence of writing.By adopting Official Document Stylistics as the theoretical basis,this paper conducts a research on the official letters published by the Chinese government.Based on the review of the previous research results and the related regulations of the official letter,this paper not only retrospectively review the functional evolution of official letters from a diachronic perspective,but also carries out a profound and comprehensive research on the logical definition,functional types,error analysis and writing skills of the official letters from a synchronic perspective.The research methods include literature review,data statistics methods,tabular analysis methods,case citation methods,scientific classification methods and also some other research methods.First of all,the paper explores the process of the evolution of the functions of official letter from the diachronic perspective.It reveals that the ancient parallel documents played a role of inquiry,assignment,notification,and contact with officials in various departments,and had many similarities with today's official letter.Secondly,from the synchronic point of view,the paper defines the official letters according to the basic functions of the current official letter.This paper defines the official letters as official documents which can be applied to the negotiation and assignment of work,consultation and replying questions,consultation or notification matters between non-affiliated agencies.Thirdly,from the perspective of function,the present study analyzes thebasic types of the current official letters and divides them into six basic types: letters for consultation,letters for question and answer,letters for request,letters for exchange,letters for apply,and notice letters.At last,from the aspects of the headlines of the official documents,the preparation of the writing number,the marking of the main delivery agency,the text writing format,the signature of the issuing authority,and the writing of the written date,the paper explores the writing skills of the official documents,and puts forward a brief template for each type official documents according to the functions and natures of them.
