As the talents are core competitiveness of enterprises,modern enterprises attach more attention to human resource management and continue to explore effective ways to improve human resources management.Among these ways,the most important is performance management.In other words,all the management and operation of enterprises are performance-oriented and are carried out around the performance.Performance appraisal is the key and center of performance management by using scientific methods to set goals and criteria for evaluation.It improves staffs' work and promotes personal career development through appraising the completion of the work over a period and communicating with the staff for the feedback in order to ensure the effective operation of the internal management mechanism.It is essential for the possibilities of healthy and sustainable development of enterprises as the basis of employment and training of staffs and labor remuneration.The middle managers play the role of connecting link in the enterprise,who are very important whether for the top executives' actual implementation of corporate strategic plan or the management of grass-roots staff work.Therefore,it is necessary to establish a scientific and effective evaluation index system for middle manager by the reason of strategic human resource management and accomplishment of strategic goals.This article starts with reviewing the basic theories of performance appraisal in academia and clarifies the related methods of performance appraisal to construct the performance appraisal index system which is suitable for middle managers of company A.In the next place,this thesis puts forward the goals,principles and methods of the construction of performance appraisal index for middle managers in company A through the analysis of the domestic and foreign status quo of the middle managers 'performance appraisal indicators and the existing problems of middle managers' performance appraisal index system.Besides,this thesis comprehensively uses a variety of performance appraisal methods and expert appraisal method to build performance appraisal index system of company A.This thesis draws the weight between each performance appraisal indicator by stratifying the indicators and building a judgment matrix on basis of the analytic hierarchy process.By analyzing the application of Company A's performance appraisal in the practical management,the thesis puts forward the safeguard measures for the application of the appraisal result of the middle managers,in order to give the full play of performance appraisal so that the enterprise can achieve its strategic goal.
