With the acceleration of financial globalization and the deepening of shareholding reform in commercial banks,Chinese bank industry is facing great opportunities and challenges.Our country further opened up financial markets,especially in business scope,open field,equity allocation and etc.Among all the banking business,personal financial service is one of the fast growing and great profitable business in recent years.Financial manager is regarded as the most precious treasure of the bank.A high growth of business scale also means a rapid increase of sales targets to the financial managers,which leads to a large number of resignation.High loss of financial managers has become a common phenomenon among most commercial banks.The research on competency originated in the United States.It is used to distinguish the deep behavioral characteristics of individual performance in a particular post.Competency model refers to a combination of a series of competency factors.It is a tool of human resource management,and also a management means.The research on competency model provides the basis for the recruitment,training and performance evaluation of employees.It is the new theoretical basis of modern human resource management.This paper is based on the development of commercial banks and the practical work of financial managers.Literature research and Behavioral Event Interview have been comprehensively used to analyze the competency factors of finance managers.Research data were collected by means of questionnaire survey and finally SPSS software was used for statistics and analyse,so as to build a competency model for bank financial manager.With all the methods above,a competency model of financial manager has been built,which can help bank leaders measure the match degreebetween candidates and financial manager.By summarizing the results of Behavioral Event Interview and analyzing the statistical results of questionnaire,the competency model of financial manager in J Bank was finally constructed.It is divided into four dimensions as "knowledge and skills,professional quality,sales and promotion and personality traits",which includes 30 subdivisions of competency factors.In terms of the application of the model,this paper makes a further analysis from three aspects: selection and recruitment,performance appraisal and daily training.The innovation of this paper is to build a competency model for the specific position of "financial manager in J Bank" for the first time.According to the case of behavioral event interview,an interview question database for financial manager has been drafted.This competency model will provide a reference for human resources department to select and recruit financial managers,and will also provide a reference for the future research on the competency of other specific positions in financial industry.
