As one of the important pillar industry of national economy, the characteristics, the construction of complex construction environment, personnel flow and so on,determines that it is a high-risk industry and it has frequent accidents.Although the state and government successively promulgated a series of laws and regulations to control the construction safety situation, but there is still a gap compared with developed countries.Especially during the period of 13th Five-Year,the construction industry as an important pillar industry in efforts to industrial transformation and upgrading,to adapt to the new normal should be given priority at the same time to realize the sustained and healthy development. This study took into account the importance of accident learning for building safety, and put forward the reverse thinking of "safety outcome—accident learning".This study analyzed the influencing factors and mechanism of construction accident investigation through empirical research.First of all, based on the literature summary and analysis, this study determined the idea of "safety outcomes—accident learning",and put forward 11 hypotheses.Secondly,78 construction accident investigation report collected has been analysed in depth, and 9 research variables were selected and assigned, respectively " the data of the scene of the accident " and "the data in person"," the description of the state of the accident scene " and "behavior description" and "direct cause in person","direct cause in object","the level of investigation group ","per capita GDP","survivor type".Finally, the hypotheses were verified by variance analysis, independent sample t test and path analysis. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The impact of information collection methods. The information possessed by the survivors has a positive effect on the description of the state of the accident scene or human behavior. There may be an alternative between the information owned by the survivors and the data of the scene of the accident.(2)The impact of investigation resources. The level of the accident investigation team has a positive effect on the description of the accident scene. It also has positive effect on the description of human behavior in accident scene. The impact of the economic level of the accident investigation team on the acquisition of accident information may be disturbed by the type of the project and the type of accident.(3)The impact of accident characteristics. The shorter accident process will weaken the direct effect of survivors on the description and behavior description. The behavior description of the person is more detailed in the open environment of the working space than the enclosed environment. The clearer clues in the accident scene, the more conducive to restore the accident process,to get the cause of the accident.(4)The impact of accident description on accident attribution. The description of the state of the matter or human behavior in the accident process has a significant positive effect on accident attribution.Based on the above conclusions, the following recommendations are proposed in this study.(1)Timely obtain information from survivors after the accident, and do a good job of psychological counseling and interview record.(2)Increase the input of electronic monitoring equipment, especially project type which work space is concealed.(3)Perfect construction accident database.(4)Certificate investigation and periodical training for accident investigators.(5)Establish the dynamic adjustment mechanism of accident investigation group.(6)The state establishes specialized accident investigation funds.
