With the development of the national economy and the continuous acceleration of urbanization,there are an increasing number of large-scale engineering buildings of different types and structures.The safety and security of various stages in the construction and operation of buildings(structures)has become an important issue which people must pay attention to.The implementation of deformation observation on building is an indispensable technical means to ensure the safety of buildings throughout the construction and use.Among all deformation observations,deformation observation in the vertical direction(settlement observation)is of particular importance.On this topic,through years of theoretical research and practical exploration,people in related fields have created many rigorous and scientific technical means,and related operation specifications.Currently,settlement observation has become a branch that is widely used in the field of surveying and mapping engineering.Yunnan is located in an earthquake prone area,and the aseismic performance of various buildings(especially public buildings with high density of population)is particularly important.Under the rapid development of science and technology,technologies aimed at shock absorption and isolation of buildings have emerged.Currently,the available results show that large-scale,complex,high-rise buildings that have adopted basic shock isolation technologies show great advantages in aseismic performance and overall safety,and the cost is also low.Therefore,the wide promotion of it has become an inevitable trend.Undoubtedly,settlement observations are required for isolated buildings,while the application of shock isolation technologies will change many structures and characteristics of buildings,which will bring certain technical difficulties to settlement observation.Moreover,there are currently few practices for settlement observation of such buildings,and systematic exploration of effective methods is still lacking.This paper aims to illustrate a set of effective methods for settlement observation for large-scale buildings with shock isolation technologies,in combination with the engineering projects that I have participated in,and systematically explore and summarize the basic content,technical means,implementation process,data processing analysis and other issues.
