A Study On The Overlapping Styles Of Pizhou Dialect

The reduplication is a widely used grammatical means in Chinese,and it is also a major characteristic of Chinese.Pizhou dialect which belongs to the Zhongyuan Mandarin area has a rich reduplication phenomenon,especially among the verbs,adjectives and adverbs.The systematic study of them is not only beneficial to make up the insufficiency of the study of the grammar of Pizhou dialect,but also promote the development of the study of Pizhou dialect.This paper mainly includes five parts:In the introduction,the background of this paper is introduced.First of all,the Pizhou and its dialect are introduced.Then the current state of research of Pizhou dialect,the research object,the significance of research and research methods are introduced.Then concept of reduplication is defined.Finally,the source of the corpus and related issues of the thesis are explained.In the first chapter,the reduplication of the verbs in Pizhou dialect is studied.Its composition can be divided into six forms:AA(AA er),AAB(AAB er),ABB,ABAB,AXAX and AABB.The phonetic feature of each form is analyzed and the analysis is mainly a summary of tone sandhi.All forms of the verbs reduplication can be used as predicates in sentences.For other syntactic positions,different forms have different expression.Then three kinds of semantic features of verbs reduplication are analyzed:the meaning of quantity,the continuity of actions and the meaning of description.In the second chapter,the reduplication of adjectives in Pizhou dialect is studied.Its has eight forms:AA(AA er)(de),AAA,ABB,AXX,A bu XX,AABB,ABAB,and A li AB.These forms have their own characteristics of tone sandhi.The reduplication of adjectives has extensive syntactic functions,and can be used as predicates,attributes,adverbials and complements.In terms of meaning,the changes in quantity are significant and they can also show state and the subjective attitude of the speaker.In the third chapter,the reduplication of the adverbs in Pizhou dialect is studied.AA,AAA,ABA,ABB and AABB are their main forms.There are similarities between the reduplication of the adjectives and adverbs in the aspect of the tone sandhi.Besides as adverbials,some forms can also act as attributives and complements.The reduplication of the adverbs can not only express measurement,but also express the emphasis and show certain situations.In the last chapter,the characteristics of the reduplication of the verbs,the adjectives and the adverbs are summarized and we can get a glimpse of the characteristics of Pizhou dialect's reduplication.At the end of the article,the reduplication of nursery rhymes in Pizhou dialect is also described.
