Based on the related data in BCC corpus of Beijing Language and Culture University, referring to the frequency standard, distribution standard and meaning standard proposed by Shen Jiaxuan, this paper aims to make effective statistics and analysis on the asymmetry phenomenon of the word group "li"(?)and "wai"(?).The first chapter examines the asymmetry of the usage frequency of word group“li"(?)and "wai"(?),through horizontal and vertical comparisons of the frequency distribution tables from different corpus sources. The second chapter investigates the asymmetry of the word group "li"(?)and "wai"(?)through syntactic distributions. The third chapter observes the asymmetry of vocabulary through semantic expressions. The final conclusions of this paper are that "li"(?),"limian"(??),"libian"·(??),"litou"(??)are marked terms, while "wai"(?),"waimian"(??),"waibian"(??),"waitou"(??)are unmarked terms, and that "yiwai"(??),"zhiwai"(??)are marked terms, while "yinei"(??),"zhinei"(??)are unmarked terms. The problems encountered during writing include:different language material data due to corpus, selection criteria and word segmentation system;the handling of invalid corpus caused by computer word segmentation and deviations due to artificial screening and so on.The main measures and methods are the combination of data statistics and specific corpus analysis as well as comparison of several corpora.
