The media environment is undergoing rapid changes alongside with the rapid development of digital technology,leading to influences on the creation and dissemination of university promotional videos.In recent years,the lack of originality and the frequent plagiarism in university promotional videos have left audience a stereotyped impression and failed to meet their aesthetic needs.Therefore,there is an urgent need to both efficiently and accurately deliver the particular cultural values of universities through their promotional videos,so as to meet the social requirements and expectations.The solution to this problem need to depend on ingenious ideas coming from the combination of social hot spots with digital technology.The motion graphic,as a new form of design expression,is very powerful in visual expression and direct in information delivery.At the meantime,it is rich in originality and enjoyment.Therefore,the motion graphic is capable of meeting the need of universities to attract public attention and establish good image,so as to become the new form of university promotional films.This thesis focuses on the application of motion graphic in university promotional films by exploring specific application approaches in five chapters.Chapter one introduces the background,reasons,purpose and significance of this research.It also summarizes recent foreign and domestic studies in this field,specifies research methods and then clarifies the innovation of this study.Chapter two first summarizes the concepts and functions of university promotional films.After that,from the perspective of artistic effect,this chapter summarizes problems in today's university promotional films based on questionnaire surveys and case studies.Chapter three first clarifies the concept of motion graphic.Then by analyzing motion graphic's application in university promotional films,its advantages and influences on those videos are studied,and its manifestations are summarized.Finally,this chapter is concluded by drawing application values of motion graphic in university promotional films.Chapter four is a case study on the author's motion graphic for Guangzhou University's promotional video,which is a detailed introduction of the designing process.Chapter five is a summary of the thesis' statements,followed by an outlook of the future trend of motion graphic application in university promotional videos.From this thesis,it can be concluded that motion graphic as a new form of visual expression,is an ideal form for university promotional films in order to spread brand culture.It is also a trend in the new media era.By analyzing advantages and shortages of current university promotional videos both in theory and practice,this thesis has summed up visual features of motion graphics,providing reference for exploring their manifestations in university promotional films.This thesis will provide relevant theoretical insights and practical reference for the future application of motion graphs in the field of university promotional films.Because of the technics and originality of the manifestations of motion graphics,they are able to help create lively and innovative promotional videos,so as to attract more public attention and promote publicity of universities.At the meantime,the application of motion graphic will also motivate the development of new media.
