The research on the relationship between the patron and the artist,the history of art results has already fruitful.From this perspective,this paper is also a study on the seal cutting artist of the Ming dynasty.This article is divided into three chapters,the first chapter is the Ming dynasty seal cutting and calligraphy market;The second chapter is the relationship of the seal cutting artist,the collection books of seal stamps and marketing;The third chapter is the seal consumption condition of the Ming dynasty.This article will focus on the create reasons and backgrounds of the artists,the type of work and how to face the market approach,the economic consciousness of the artists and the book editors,the relationship between the client and the principal and so on.In late Ming dynasty,the whole society by luxury fashion,advocating literature and art,business is growing fast,at the same time,the artists and the scholars in order to gain better market and material conditions,they constantly improve their culture level,gradually their lives as running a business,to win a better reputation and status.We can find out the way from the artists life stories and activities.Economic awareness is rife in the artists,the seal cutting collection books and the publications.In order to win the market recognition,they return money or works to invite the officials and famous scholars write the preface or postscript,present their works have obtained the approval of the inscription writer.The artists have to adapt to market demand,learning,imitating the famous printed works and ancient printing,that have been recognized by the market,and conform to the consumers taste.As the emerging time of seal cutting,the people who survival by the seal cutting,to adopt the demand,obedience the client,like the calligrapher LouJian(1567-1631)said,it is also understandable,the client and the artists are interwoven and influence each other.the market behavior and market aesthetic influence demand on the development of seal cutting theory in the Ming dynasty.
