With the rapid development of internet,a variety of internet services have a significant impact on interpersonal communication and social interaction. At the center of online information transfer are the popularity of social networking sites(SNS)which provide a new tool for information sharing and become an environment in which individuals can publicly disclose one's identity and personal information. As a core behavior on SNS,users can disclose various self-related information on SNS including images, profile information, feelings, thoughts, and etc.Self-disclosure can reinforce the closeness among individuals and thus plays a central role in the development and maintenance of relationships.Recently,an increasing number of research on self-disclosure has shifted focus from offline to online social situations and suggested an individual differences in self-disclosure on SNS.Considering attachment theory is a particularly powerful framework for explaining individuals' thoughts, emotions and behaviors in offline and online social interaction, current research focus on the role of adult attachment in self-disclosure on SNS.Previous studies has examined the applicability of attachment theory to predicting self-disclosure on SNS.However, several inconsistent results and limitations still need further research.First,One research find that insecurely-attached individuals tend to disclose more self-related information on Facebook. While another research suggest the greater information disclosure of securely-attached individuals. That is,previous studies lack of attention to the difference between anxious and avoidant individuals(they are both insecure individuals)and draw conflict conclusion. In addition, the research that only focus on profile image or the information disclosed in personal profile seems cannot fully reflect the concept of self-disclosure on SNS.Besides, the mechanism between adult attachment and SNS disclosure has not yet been studied before. At last, previous studies has been limited to student sample and resorted mainly to participants' self-report data which may lead to untrustworthy sample representativeness and measured deviation. Therefore, the two studies in the current research construct an evaluation model of SNS disclosure based on observable information posted on ones' Sina Weibo,a large SNS in mainland China, and further investigate the difference between attachment anxiety and avoidance in predicting self-disclosure on SNS.In addition, the mediating effect of impression management motivation and onlineinterpersonal trust were examined. The results of current research are as follow:(1)The observable information posted on users' Sina Weibo can be classified as personal profile information, profile image, and status information.Based on these information, the evaluation model of SNS disclosure constructed in current research can effectively evaluate one's amount and depth of self-disclosure on SNS.(2)There are difference between anxious and avoidant individuals in their self-disclosure on SNS.Anxious individuals tend to disclose less personal profile information on SNS.While avoidant individuals tend to disclose less profile image information on SNS.(3)Impression management motivation and online interpersonal trust can simultaneously mediate the relationship between adult attachment and SNS self-disclosure.Specifically,Other-oriented impression management and online interpersonal trust play mediator roles between adult attachment and SNS self-disclosure.While,self-oriented impression management can only mediates the relationship between attachment avoidance and SNS self-disclosure.(4)Generally,the mediating effect of impression management and online interpersonal trust are equivalent. However, the two mediators play different role in the relationship between attachment avoidance and specific dimensions of SNS self-disclosure.Finally,the evaluation model and explanations of attachment as a predictor, the mediating effect of impression management and online trust, limitations of the current study, implications, and areas for future research are discussed.
