Self-disclosure is the process of revealing personal information to another which is an essential component of building and developing relationship. Self-disclosure reciprocity refers to the process by which one person’s self-disclosure elicits another person’s self-disclose, which have been understood as care and support. Reciprocating self-disclosure encourage people promote relationships developing and prevent a defensive response. Recent studies of self-disclosure, treating self-disclosure as a dynamic development process, pay more attention to the important role of self-disclosure reciprocity in promoting relations. Self-disclosure reciprocity between strangers plays a particularly important role in the establishment and development of the relationship, which directly determines whether two people are willing to interact once again and make the further development of relations. Therefore, this study adopts the network get-acquainted paradigm operating types of self-disclosure reciprocity to examine the effect on interpersonal trust and the mechanism that liking and different credibility clues in self-disclosure reciprocity and interpersonal trust.Across three experiments, experiment 1 explored the impact that different types of self-disclosure reciprocity influencing interpersonal trust in the initial phase of the network; Experiment 2 examined liking caused by different types of self-disclosure reciprocity whether has a mediating role between self-disclosure reciprocity and interpersonal trust. From the cognitive perspective, we explored liking impact interpersonal trust under different levels of trust clues in experiment 3 based on the results of experiment 2.With 50 pairs of(100) students unfamiliar with each other as participants, participants were randomly assigned to three different types of self-disclosure reciprocity(turn-taking self-disclosure reciprocity、extended self-disclosure reciprocity and no-reciprocity self-disclosure),and making different operation by the get-acquainted paradigm. After the first interaction of the get-acquainted paradigm, subjects completed the trust game and tasks of trust self-reported and continued the operation of self-disclosure reciprocity of the second phase. After the second interaction of the get-acquainted paradigm, subjects completed the trust game、tasks of trust self-reported and operational effectiveness test check. In experiment 2,44 pairs of (88) unfamiliar students were randomly assigned to three different types of self-disclosure reciprocity, and making different operation by the get-acquainted paradigm. First, after the first interaction of the get-acquainted paradigm, subjects completed the trust game、tasks of trust self-reported、and continued the operation of self-disclosure reciprocity of the second phase. After the second interaction of the get-acquainted paradigm, subjects completed the trust game、tasks of trust self-reported. Then completing the second interaction, subjects finished the trust game、 tasks of trust self-reported、operational effectiveness test check、like questionnaire and perceived similarity questionnaire. In experiment 3,121 pairs of (242) unfamiliar students were randomly assigned to two different types of self-disclosure reciprocity, and each type of self-disclosure reciprocity also including two different kinds of trust clues. First, after the first interaction of the get-acquainted paradigm, subjects finished the trust game、operational effectiveness test check、like questionnaire and perceived similarity questionnaire. Then, after the second interaction of the get-acquainted paradigm, they operated different degrees of trust. Third, they completed the faces credibility assessment, trust game task, like questionnaire and perceived similarity questionnaire. In the initial stage of the network, different types of self-disclosure reciprocity have different influences on interpersonal trust. With respect to extended self-disclosure reciprocity and no-reciprocity self-disclosure, participants with the turn-taking self-disclosure reciprocity have more investment in the trust game. In the initial stage of the network, liking plays a completely mediating role in the relation between self-disclosure reciprocity and interpersonal trust. In the initial stage of the network, different degrees of trust clues through liking have an impact on interpersonal trust. Interaction between two types of self- disclosure reciprocity and varying degrees of trust clues is significant. In the extended self-disclosure reciprocity group, participants with trustworthy clues had significantly greater scores in the trust game than ones with untrustworthy clues.
