Nianhua(Chinese Traditional New Year Picture),a sort of woodblock printing artwork,is one of the most historic painting genre in the world.In China,there are numerous types of Nianhua that based on different original region,painting styles,and painting techniques.Nianhua,as a product that originates from folk culture in agricultural society in feudal era,has been popular around the whole China for thousands of years.It is one of the most significant art forms and most influential intangible cultural heritages of China.In modern era,the protection of Chinese traditional culture has been getting more attention from the whole China.It is the duty of workers in culture industry in China to think about a better method to inherit and further develop traditional folk art.Exploring the value of traditional Chinese culture is not only a historic mission for workers in culture industry in China,but also one of the main driving forces for the development of Chinese culture in new era.However,workers in culture industry in China must be aware that in contemporary era,the changes in culture has refreshed people’s aesthetic system.As globalization constantly hits Chinese traditional culture,Nianhua is gradually fading away.The current situation of Nianhua is only an epitome of all the endangered Chinese traditional arts.Mianzhu Nianhua,representing/together with a series of intangible cultural heritages,is losing its living soil because of the modernization,facing the danger of being marginalized in contemporary era.Therefore,the protection of Chinese traditional art should be interpreted as a further development on the basis of contemporary aesthetic system to make Chinese traditional art more energetic,rather than simply promoting the traditional elements.From multiple perspectives,this paper aims to explore a better method for the development of Mianzhu Nianhua,by analyzing the current situation of Mianzhu Nianhua based on investigation.This paper starts with the background information,significance,current situation and target of the research.Then the author introduces the key terms and development history of Nianhua.Next,the author illustrates the content and key features of Nianhua and the current difficulty in Nianhua’s development.Finally,the author proposes the principles and advice for the development of Nianhua.Hopefully,this paper would be inspirational for the future researches of Nianhua.
