| The caste system in Indian feudal society is a unique social phenomenon of social anthropology.It is an unequal class system based on family origin,which has a far-reaching impact on modern Indian society.In the book Castes of Mind: Colonialism and the Making of Modern India,Nicholas B.Dirks,one of the American historians and anthropologists,uses the ethnographic form to record a large number of caste crimes in Indian society during the British colonial period in the 19 th century.At that time,the reports written by the missionaries under the strong religious atmosphere reflected the psychological state of the Indian people struggling between caste system and human nature.The colonial government's crackdown on caste crime also allowed the development of Indian ethnography and anthropometry.The author chooses Chapter 9 for translation with the guiding of cultural translation theory to analyze the usage,collocation and extension of word meanings in cultural context,adjust the word order of compound sentences in Chinese translation conforming to time and logical order,and deal with textual cohesion according to the characteristics of vocabulary,reference and logic.This report involving translation strategies of linguistic and cultural contrastive has been formed.It is hoped that this translation practice report can provide ideas for the same type of text translation. |
